Chapter 89 – The Goblin Who Forgot How to Be Scary
The three-horned goblin Lykan swung his club with all his might and frowned deeply.
"...This can’t be happening."

But as that club came closer, Lykan felt it—his body tensed, his breath caught.

"Sir! What are you doing?!"
Just then, Luke dove in like a whirlwind, grabbed Lykan by the waist, and rolled them both out of harm’s way.
The ogre’s club smashed through the air where Lykan had just been, missing by a hair.
RAAAARGH!
The ogre bellowed, furious at being interrupted. Luke , holding Lykan in a protective grip, sprang back with him, dodging further danger.
Lykan, still stunned, stammered:
"L-Let go! I must take that brute down myself!"
"You can’t!" Luke snapped. "You’re not strong enough right now!"
"How dare you! I’m one of the Three-Horned Goblins! You think I’d lose to a lowly ogre?!"
"I get it! But we need to run!"
Lykan thrashed and wriggled, but Luke held on tight. He couldn’t break free—and that made his heart ache even more.
His face darkened like a thundercloud.
"Let. Me. Go!"
But even Lykan was silenced when he saw what was coming.
Monsters. More of them. Bigger, meaner, and hungrier than the ogre.
They were circling.
A monster party.
Millie fired round after round of magic bullets to keep them at bay, but there were too many—far too many for her to handle alone.
The night had twisted Bey World into a place of terror, and the monsters were closing in like wolves.
Lykan looked around with widening eyes.
He didn’t want to admit it—but his body already knew the truth.
He wasn’t strong enough anymore.
I’m... just a husk.
Admitting it was painful. But once he said it to himself, the truth settled fast.
The power he once held, gone—burned up completely in the struggle to contain a soul that wasn’t even his own.
He was no longer the Three-Horned Goblin of legend.
Still... I have no regrets.
He had followed his King’s orders. If the King had told him to die, he would’ve done so with pride.
But this—being powerless in the face of danger?
This was unbearable.
He couldn’t even teach a disobedient goblin a lesson anymore.

"Sir Lykan... what do we do now?" Luke asked quietly.
"...We go to the King."
That was the only thought that came to him.

His King.

That was him. His King. The one who had once become a monster for their sake.
"MY KING! I’M HERE!"

Lykan froze.
Just as he rushed forward, a blade slashed through the air—clean and sudden—cutting the edge of his robe.
Had Luke not yanked him back at the last second, he would’ve been sliced in two.
"...Why?"
Before him, the King stood tall, sword still raised to strike.
Lykan felt it. The power. The pressure. The air—it was him.
The King.
But then...
KIAAAAK!
A guttural cry tore from the King’s lips.
It sounded wrong.
Like a beast pretending to be a man.
What... is this?
The answer came from beside him.
"Get back."
CLANG!
Another sword—one just like the King’s—clashed against the imposter’s.
Sparks flew.
Lykan blinked—and there stood another King.
"Wait... are you... the King too?" he whispered, stunned.
The man didn’t answer. He kept his eyes locked on the enemy.
Jhin , frowning deeply, murmured,
"You alright?"
"...."
"Then stay behind me."
He tightened his grip on the sword and shoved the doppelgänger back with a grunt.
As the two locked into a deadly standoff, Lykan could only mumble:
"There... there are two Kings...? But how..."
Before him stood two copies of the same man.
One wearing the goblin crown, burning with monstrous energy.
The other—just a man, no crown, but radiating command.
Jhin sighed.
"Lykan. Look carefully. Which one’s your real King?"
"...Huh?"
"Focus. Look closely."
[Title: Goblin King activated.]
All at once, it was like a fog lifted from Lykan’s eyes.
Only one figure held that true, kingly presence.
Now he could see it.
Only one was the real King.
Then who...
"Who is that other one?"
The monster with the King’s face lunged, shrieking wildly.
Jhin grit his teeth and swung hard.
"I don’t know. I was hoping you did!"
