Soul-possession is literally the possession of a soul in any inanimate and non-biological objects. If the soul takes control of a biological vessel dead or alive, the soul would start to accumulate immense karma which would end up invoking the descend of a Thunderbird, the being in myths. Those beasts are specialised in spotting and eliminating souls with extraordinary amounts of Karma.
But even if a soul successfully possesses a weapon or object, it does not necessarily mean that a will is immediately formed. The soul would have to travel through every atom and molecule to familiarise with it completely.
