"Mabel, you haven’t ever called my name, have you?" he suddenly remarked.
"No, just Kyle. You’ve never called me just by my name," he replied. All along, she either called him by his full name or addressed him as Mr. Kinston or Mr. Kinston.
Mabel Quinn blushed slightly but still softly called, "Kyle."
"Call me like that from now on," he said, sitting up straight, fastening his seat belt, and continuing to drive. His name had always seemed like an unfortunate curse.
But just now, hearing it from her lips made him find it so pleasant, as if all misfortunes would dissipate.
Mabel Quinn adjusted her seating, instinctively raising her hand to touch her somewhat flushed cheek.
Though she and he hadn’t really done anything, it felt like... they had done a lot of things.
"Francine Howards is my friend’s cousin, we just grew up together, not a deep relationship." Kyle Kinston suddenly added.
Mabel Quinn was stunned for a moment, was he explaining to her?
The car drove all the way to the front of the Kinston Mansion, but when Mabel Quinn saw her mother shouting and yelling like a shrew at the mansion entrance, she was dumbfounded.
Why was her mother here? And what was her purpose in coming here?
At this moment, Evelina also saw the approaching car, and through the car window, she noticed her daughter sitting inside with Kyle Kinston, and hurriedly ran over, stopping in front of the car.
Kyle Kinston gazed ahead with a heavy look, suddenly chuckling, "What do you think if I just drove right into her?"
Mabel Quinn was startled, "Are you joking?"
Kyle Kinston casually said, "Indeed, just joking."
But Mabel Quinn still felt uneasy, sensing that Kyle Kinston’s words weren’t entirely in jest.
The security guards at the gate also ran over, restraining Evelina, who was still shouting, "Let me go, I’m Mabel Quinn’s mother, a mother wanting to see her daughter is being stopped, is there no justice?"
The two security guards were evidently quite helpless against this kind of hysterical middle-aged woman.
Mabel Quinn got out of the car, looking at Evelina, "Mom, have you had enough? Do you realize where this is, is it a place for you to shout?"
"I’m just trying to see you, these security guys must have dog eyes, stopping me from going in," Evelina twisted her body, trying to free herself from the restraints.
Mabel Quinn frowned and said, "Mom, they’re not someone you can insult! Don’t forget where you are!"
Evelina then jolted as if realizing something, casting her gaze at Kyle Kinston stepping out of the car.
Kyle Kinston waved to the two security guards restraining Evelina, and only then did they release her.
Regaining her freedom, Evelina immediately rushed toward Mabel Quinn, warmly saying, "I tell you Mabel, Mom was so eager to see you, don’t be mad at me, okay?"
Mabel Quinn, however, didn’t seem moved. To her, the things her mother had done in the past had repeatedly shattered her feelings for her mother, and today, it was evident her mother wasn’t here just to see her.
"Mom, do you have any business?"
"Why not go inside and talk? Are you living in this mansion now?" Evelina craned her neck, peeking into the mansion.
