The investigation into Joseph Grant is still in the confidential stage, so no news has been released. Mabel Quinn just found out, "If your dad hasn’t done anything illegal, then what are you afraid of?"
Lyra Grant’s face darkened, because they were afraid because he had done those things! She’s well aware that her father has gained a lot of benefits from his position; otherwise, how could her family possibly have so many houses just on their salaries? She wouldn’t have thousands of dollars of pocket money every month and be able to wear designer brands.
Just as Mabel Quinn finished washing her hands and was about to leave, Lyra Grant stopped her, reluctantly saying, "Fine, I admit, everything in the past was my fault, is that enough? Hurry up and ask Kyle Kinston to have someone release my dad and stop investigating!"
Mabel Quinn looked at Lyra Grant incredulously. How could someone cause such great harm to others and think a simple apology would suffice, even expecting the other person to be grateful?
"Lyra Grant, how can you be so naive? Do you think I’m in charge of the government? That I can do whatever I want? Moreover, what makes you think that with such a lightweight apology, I’d forgive you or agree to your request?"
"Then what do you want?!" Lyra Grant said angrily.
"I don’t want anything. It’s best if you stay you and I stay me, from now on, we have nothing to do with each other!" Mabel Quinn said, pushing Lyra Grant’s hand away and walked out of the restroom.
Lyra Grant gritted her teeth in hatred, yet powerless. She had to come up with a way; she refused to fall from being a Grant Family’s daughter to a criminal’s daughter!
At noon, Mabel Quinn was dragged by Lilith to the entrance of a restaurant under the pretense of introducing her to someone—her senior from school. Lilith left with a teasing smile, leaving Mabel no chance to even say she had a boyfriend.
So, she walked up to the blind date and said, "Hi, I’m Mabel Quinn, a colleague of Lilith."
The man looked up but had an impatient expression, "You really kept me waiting. If it wasn’t for Lilith chatting with my mom and mentioning you, and my mom pushing me to meet you, I wouldn’t have come at all."
"Your mom?" Mabel was taken aback.
"Lilith is my neighbor."
Oh, now it made sense. Not only were they schoolmates, but also neighbors. Apparently, Lilith talked about her, and the man’s mom thought she sounded good, so she forced her son into this blind date.
However, it was clear she hadn’t impressed this guy at all.
Thinking this, Mabel relaxed, "Um... if you don’t want to meet me, it’s okay for you to leave now."
"What?" This time, the man was the one taken aback.
"I was dragged here last minute, so maybe we just act like neither of us is interested?" she suggested.
"You’re not interested in me? What’s not to like?" The man was clearly displeased.
"Yes, yes, it’s you not interested in me, and I’m the one hopelessly wanting to see you again, but you don’t want that. Is that okay?" Mabel didn’t mind lowering her posture; she was eager just to end this blind date farce, "Or you could say you found during the conversation that I’m a two-timer. That way, I guarantee your mom wouldn’t want you to be involved with a woman like me."
A low laugh came from the next table.
