"However, I don’t really hope Mr. Harris and Mabel become friends. A man like Mr. Harris is too easily attractive to women, and I wish for Mabel’s eyes and heart to have only me. If she really became a couple with Mr. Harris, wouldn’t I be unable to be at ease?" Kyle Kinston spoke as he lowered his head to look at the person beside him, in his eyes a deep affection he himself hadn’t realized.
Mabel Quinn’s face instantly turned beet red; she never expected Kyle Kinston to say such things in public.
"Is that so? Then Mr. Kinston truly has good fortune to find someone whom he loves this deeply." After Daniel Harris finished speaking, he turned and left, but in that moment of turning, his gaze nonetheless fell upon Kyle Kinston’s left wrist, glancing at the faintly visible bracelet.
Kyle Kinston stared dazedly at the person in his embrace. Daniel Harris’s words left him at a loss. Deeply in love? Was he in love with Mabel?
"Kyle?" Mabel Quinn called out.
Only then did Kyle Kinston sharply come back to his senses. Looking at the face in front of him, his voice unconsciously slipped out, "Have I... fallen for you?"
Mabel Quinn was startled, and then as if understanding something, she said, "Is it because Daniel Harris just said you are deeply in love with me?"
She pressed her lips together and said, "Whether or not you’ve fallen for me, what anyone says doesn’t count; only you can truly know."
"That’s true," he said softly, "The one who should know best is me."
Alessia Quinn walked over to Francine Howards’s side and started to chat warmly. The two were college classmates, which allowed Alessia Quinn to close the gap between her and Francine Howards a bit.
"I really never expected Mr. Kinston to have such bad taste, to actually fancy someone like Mabel Quinn. Mabel Quinn is far inferior to you, Francine." Alessia Quinn said, partly venting her anger at Mabel Quinn and partly deliberately flattering Francine Howards.
"Not really, at least she looks decent, plus with that dress on her, she does look somewhat princess-like." Francine Howards replied with a slight smile, on the surface seeming to hold a slight admiration for Mabel Quinn.
"Hmph! She’s just someone from a branch of the Quinn Family. Even her mother and brother have broken ties with her, and she dares to act like a princess. God knows what low tricks she used to latch onto Mr. Kinston!" Alessia Quinn spoke with righteous indignation.
Francine Howards swirled the wine glass in her hand and said, "You can’t say it like that. Who can tell what the future holds? Since Kyle is around, Mabel Quinn might soar to great heights. Perhaps in the future, your entire Quinn Family might have to rely on Mabel Quinn."
Francine Howards spoke nonchalantly, but to Alessia Quinn, these words were undoubtedly adding fuel to the fire.
The thought of having to live under Mabel Quinn’s shadow in the future was intolerable to her. Seeing Mabel Quinn alone, making her way towards the area with the sofa chairs, Alessia Quinn quickly stepped forward, sidling up to Mabel Quinn, and stomped heavily on a corner of Mabel’s dress.
In an instant, only the sound of a tear was heard. The light purple gown Mabel was wearing ripped in an irregular pattern from the hem, revealing both of her calves in the sheer tulle skirt. While it wasn’t indecent, it was certainly embarrassing.
