Era of Players: Death God Chapter 234

The massage parlor was nestled in a quiet corner of the bustling town, its warm glow spilling onto the cobblestone street through latticed windows. The small, unassuming building was tucked between a bakery and a modest tailor shop, its faded wooden sign painted with intricate vines and petals, giving it an air of gentle invitation.

Inside, the atmosphere was hushed, with soft, golden lighting casting a calming glow over the space. The scent of lavender and sandalwood lingered in the air, mingling with hints of eucalyptus, instantly soothing the senses. Delicate curtains separated the massage rooms from the lobby, which was furnished with plush armchairs and low tables arranged around a small stone fountain. The gentle trickling of water complemented the faint strains of flute music, adding to the ambiance of tranquility.

They were greeted by a soft-spoken attendant who offered them cups of herbal tea as they waited. The tea was warm and fragrant, a blend of chamomile and honey that seemed to melt the tension from their bodies before they'd even begun the session.

When their rooms were ready, they each slipped into a private, dimly lit space draped in silken curtains. The massage beds were covered in soft linen sheets, with warm stones placed around the edges to help relax sore muscles. Soft candles flickered in each corner, casting gentle shadows on the walls, and the faint aroma of jasmine floated in the air.

The masseuses greeted them with quiet professionalism, their movements graceful and unhurried. As they worked, strong yet gentle hands moved skillfully over tired muscles, coaxing away the knots and strain built up over weeks of relentless training. Every motion was precise, guided by years of practice and a deep understanding of the body. The pressure was perfect—firm enough to release tension yet gentle enough to soothe.

Luna let out a sigh of relief as the masseuse worked through the soreness in her shoulders, the warmth seeping into her skin, each knot gradually melting away. She closed her eyes, letting the sensations transport her to a place of complete relaxation, where the weight of training, of expectations, and of unknown challenges dissolved, even if just for a little while.

Orpheus, in the room beside her, found himself unwinding in a way he hadn't allowed in a long time. His usual guarded posture softened as the tension was worked from his shoulders and back, his mind slipping into a rare, quiet stillness.

As the session neared its end, they both felt a newfound lightness, as though they had left part of their burdens behind in that room.

After the massage, with an impish grin and a glint of mischief in her eyes, Luna led Orpheus down a narrow street and into a small, charming beauty parlor. The shop was decorated with strings of dried flowers and delicate bottles of colored oils lining the shelves. Orpheus hesitated in the doorway, glancing around with mild apprehension, but Luna just laughed and pulled him inside.

"Come on," she urged, clearly amused. "After the week we've had, I think we deserve a little extra pampering. Besides," she added, giving him a sideways glance, "when was the last time you actually relaxed?"

Orpheus rolled his eyes but followed her in, bemused. The woman behind the counter smiled warmly as she led them to a pair of comfortable, high-backed chairs by the window. Soft lavender-scented towels were draped over their shoulders, and a cheerful attendant began preparing a series of masks and balms.

Luna settled in easily, leaning back as a refreshing, cool mask was applied to her face, the scent of cucumber and mint tingling pleasantly on her skin. She closed her eyes, letting herself sink into the experience, feeling her body and mind unwind even further. She caught herself smiling, savoring the novelty of the moment.

Meanwhile, Orpheus sat stiffly in his chair, visibly unsure about the whole ordeal, but the attendants were professionals. One began applying a mask to his face as well, their hands quick and gentle, while another massaged his shoulders with a balm that smelled faintly of rosemary and pine. Gradually, as the warmth and scents took hold, he relaxed into the experience, despite himself.

"You look ridiculous, you know," Luna teased, peeking over at him with a grin as she noticed the mask setting on his face. ɴᴇᴡ ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀʀᴇ ᴘᴜʙʟɪsʜᴇᴅ ᴏɴ 𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙡⁂𝔣𝔦𝔯𝔢⁂𝘯𝘦𝘵

He arched an eyebrow, though his eyes held a spark of amusement. "And you look any less ridiculous?"

She chuckled, shrugging. "I don't mind. Sometimes, it's nice to let go of appearances."

They sat in comfortable silence, the quiet sounds of the parlor around them—gentle brushes and soft voices, the clink of bottles, and the occasional light laughter from other patrons. After a while, a young attendant brought over a bowl of warm water and began tending to Luna's hands, massaging her fingers and palms with practiced skill, while another worked on Orpheus's.

As the final touches of the treatment concluded, they were each handed a small vial of scented oil to take with them, a keepsake from the unexpected experience. Luna thanked the attendants with genuine warmth, and Orpheus nodded his own quiet appreciation, a faint smile lingering as they stepped back out onto the street.

As they walked back through the village, he looked over at her, his expression lighter than she'd seen in a long time. "I'll admit," he said, "I didn't expect to end the day covered in lavender and rose oils."

Luna laughed, nudging him playfully. "See? Sometimes it's good to try something new."

He shook his head with a chuckle. "Only you could talk me into this," he said. But his eyes softened, the faintest hint of gratitude there.

They walked on, sharing a rare moment of ease, their steps in sync, the night air cool and fresh. And as they returned to the edge of the forest, both felt a renewed sense of camaraderie, a lightness in their spirits that hadn't been there before.

That evening they had fun playing like normal couple.
