Suddenly, a thought crossed Du You’s mind. He quickly rushed to the window, flung the curtains open "whoosh", and peered out at the lights flickering in the streets.
Du You shouted aloud into the night, "What just happened? The explosion seemed to be really close by. Did anyone see that?"
The suspicion towards Du You rapidly shifted. Those whose houses remained silent easily became the subjects of finger-pointing. Du You felt relieved at his quick action at deflecting suspicion.
"Who knows what exactly happened, but my detector caught a burst of thunder and lightning attribute power."
"Thunder and lightning attribute? This is not some random accident, it could have been manually triggered."
An old man downstairs walked out of the security office, looking around in confusion, "I think it might not be man-made, but possibly an electrical explosion somewhere. An explosion of a large appliance could cause this."
"Sir, the last time we had a significant appliance explosion was ten years ago. It’s been so long since we’ve seen anything like that."
"Just because it hasn’t happened in a long time, doesn’t mean it won’t happen. Who knows, this time could just be the occasion," the old man argued with the crowd.
"Enough, enough. Let’s all go home. I believe someone fought here just earlier, but they must have left by now. This is a matter for the police. It’s none of our business."
Finally, someone broke the silence. As everyone was unable to comprehend what had transpired, they gradually returned to their homes, locking their doors more securely than before.
Du You also closed his window and curtains, breathing a sigh of relief. "Thank goodness the people of this world are accustomed to the occasional hiccup. Otherwise, I would be in deep trouble."
