No sooner had he spoken than a faint squeaking noise suddenly arose.
Jiang Ning instinctively looked down towards the source of the sound, and a chubby gray squirrel had appeared from nowhere, hopping toward them!
Jiang Ning immediately understood that this was definitely summoned by Qi Xingzhou for questioning.
Jiang Ning quickly grabbed Qi Xingzhou’s arm, their pose instantly becoming very intimate. Qi Xingzhou’s body stiffened, but Jiang Ning seemed not to notice as she whispered to him, "Don’t rush, there’s a surveillance camera here, be careful not to get caught."
The camera in this corridor was right above their heads; considering what had just happened here, this spot must be under close surveillance by the security staff in the monitoring room.
Jiang Ning didn’t want Miao Wenjun to still be at large while Qi Xingzhou got taken away for dissection.
She pulled him into the apartment.
Qi Xingzhou looked bewildered, letting Jiang Ning handle him without any resistance.
His long eyelashes drooped, his mind seemingly elsewhere.
It wasn’t until he was pulled into the living room by Jiang Ning that Qi Xingzhou slowly raised his hand to his chest, his expression one of confusion.
In the corridor, the little gray squirrel that had originally scampered excitedly toward them, halted after Jiang Ning pulled Qi Xingzhou into the apartment, seemingly realizing that it had been not only rejected but left outside the door.
The buoyant, agile steps slowed down until they stopped completely. Standing outside Jiang Ning’s door, its fluffy ears drooped down beside its head, and a long tail dragged on the ground behind it; the small figure looked downtrodden and seemed somewhat dejected.
