Wen Nuan really didn’t know what was wrong with her and the elevator today; she bumped into Leng Ye on her way down, and Ji Wei on her way up.
She hesitated for a moment, gritted her teeth and pretended not to hear, intending to close the elevator doors, but a shadow slipped in faster than she could.
"Assistant Wen, Sister Ji asked you to wait a moment, didn’t you hear her?" It was the voice of Ji Wei’s assistant, with an inquiring smile on her face.
This smile used to look sincere. Today, however, it seemed utterly hypocritical.
Wen Nuan turned her face away and stared at the numbers in the elevator, saying flatly, "Didn’t hear."
Even if I heard, so what? I just don’t want to let her in!
Ji Wei stepped in wearing a very casual outfit, a very ethnic-style long skirt, paired with a white versatile shirt, slightly loose, making her look more graceful and free. After entering, she removed her large sunglasses, smiled slightly at Wen Nuan, and said, "Assistant Wen, long time no see. How have you been lately?"
"Of course, I’m doing well," Wen Nuan replied politely with a nod, her jaw clenched tightly. How well I’m doing, don’t you know better than anyone? Stop pretending! You must be happy now that you’ve snatched Leng Yan away?
"I was just passing by, and there’s an award ceremony soon, so I wanted to check out Lin Designer’s clothes," Ji Wei explained, seeing Wen Nuan’s angry demeanor, her lips curling up smugly, explaining her reason for being there, then taking out her phone and dialing a number.
"Make a few copies of this and clearly send it to..."
Leng Yan was instructing his secretary when the phone rang. Seeing the number, his expression changed slightly, and he glanced at the secretary, "You can go out now."
This morning, Ji Wei said her wrist felt almost healed and asked him to find a confidential doctor to examine it. However, there was still an hour before the appointed time.
"I’m quite busy right now. I’ll come to pick you up in a while."

It’s just that today’s scenes wrapped up earlier than planned, and I was afraid you’d be waiting around at the set. I’ll find a café to rest for a bit and let you know the address later, okay?"
"Okay." Leng Yan replied simply, putting down the phone and rubbing his temple, feeling a surge of helplessness in his heart.
Ji Wei had been reaching out to him more and more frequently, mostly because of her injury, but the frequency made him feel very troubled.
He didn’t want Wen Nuan to misunderstand any further; he worked late into the night yesterday and didn’t go home, staying on the small bed in his office, thinking a lot.
Although he was angry about her being with Tan Qing, he knew that the person she loved was him. And now, he understood his own heart and really wanted to confess to Wen Nuan, yet the matter of Ji Wei held him back, and he didn’t know how to explain.
Ji Wei didn’t want anyone to know about her suicide attempt, including Wen Nuan. Furthermore, he feared that if Wen Nuan learned the truth about why Ji Wei left years ago, it would burden her heart, causing him to hesitate continuously.
Ji Wei’s suicide was like a burden weighing heavily on him, making it hard to breathe. It was also like an unbridgeable river standing between him and Wen Nuan.
This feeling made him utterly loathe it!
