After a painfully awkward dinner and another performance as a loving couple, Wen Nuan, forced by Leng Yan, got into his car, bid farewell to Wen Qingyan and Pengfei, and held back her tears.
As the car drove for a long time, Wen Nuan used silence to express her resistance. She fiddled with her phone the whole way, refusing to say a word to him. Back home, she stubbornly walked towards the Guest Room. Before the door could close, he squeezed in, slightly lowered his head, and gazed into her eyes, "Nuannuan, let me explain what happened today."
"No need." Wen Nuan’s heart fluttered, and she forced a bright smile at him, "There’s no need to explain anything, nor to ask for my forgiveness. I have said before, if you’re reconciled with her, I wish you well. Do you need me to leave now? I agree! I’ll pack my things and go, okay?"
She bypassed him to open the door, as most of her things were in the master bedroom, needing to be packed adequately. "Nuannuan!" Leng Yan felt a sharp sting in his heart, a severe pain. He stopped her from behind, "I disagree! Nuannuan, I never thought of letting you go, never."
"Is that so?" She was taken aback for a moment.
"Give me a reason to stay." Wen Nuan slowly turned back, looked at him, her fingers gently caressed his handsome face, her lips curled into a smile, but her eyes filled with tears, "The family flag won’t fall, while the outside flags flutter? Leng Yan, is this what you want?"
He called lowly, grabbing her hand that wandered on his face, placing it on his own face, and used his fingers to wipe her tears, "Listen to my explanation."

"I’ll do it myself." Wen Nuan turned away, pulled her hand free from his grip, and wiped her tears herself.
Didn’t he hate seeing her cry? Didn’t he shout at her not to cry in front of him? Ha! It’s not like she wanted to either, but she just couldn’t control herself. Crying is a sign of weakness. She didn’t side of herself, yet felt helpless.
"The matter with Ji Wei is not what you think." Leng Yan held her hand, intending to pull her into a hug, but she broke free forcefully.
Wen Nuan stepped back, looked at him, and smirked coldly, "There’s no need to explain anything to me."
The last time, she gave him a chance to speak, and the result was only hearing a lie. Today is probably just the second lie, right? Every time she listens, her heart aches; she doesn’t want to hear it anymore.
"Nuannuan, you said you wanted a reason." Leng Yan frowned, troubled.
The girl before him seemed like a porcupine with its quills out, leaving him at a loss, only able to use her own words against her.
Wen Nuan’s lips curled into a mocking smile, and she looked up at Leng Yan’s god-like perfect face, "I don’t need a reason woven out of lies. Leng Yan, if I say I want a real, complete reason, would you tell me?"
Don’t blame her for being harsh; she just didn’t want to get hurt.
It was too painful, unbearable.
Leng Yan’s dark eyes dimmed.
A real, complete reason, it meant he would have to reveal Ji Wei’s case of being raped, committing suicide.
He wanted to explain but hadn’t intended to reveal everything to her.
"Can’t say it, can you?" Wen Nuan looked at him for a moment, then laughed coldly, bypassed him to pull the door, and slammed it shut.
"Wen Nuan!" Leng Yan shouted from behind, but the door wouldn’t open no matter what. He was startled to realize that Wen Nuan seemed to have taken the key with her when she went out.
