The mournful voice was filled with pain. Leng Yan stiffened his back, closing his eyes to avoid looking at her.
Ji Wei held him tightly from behind, sobbing quietly, "Talk to me, Yan. Just talk, okay?"
Leng Yan frowned deeply, forcing his heart to harden.
Three years ago, he had also held her, pleading with her not to leave. But what about her?

He deliberately dragged his tone, the deep black eyes tinged with bitter pain, "As you said, your feelings for me were mere pity, not love. I was just someone you pitied. If you truly loved me, would you have left so resolutely three years ago? Ji Wei, remember, I don’t need your pity. I didn’t need it then, and I don’t need it now."
Tears flowed even more freely down Ji Wei’s face, and she pressed her face to his chest, "It’s not pity, Yan. I love you, I always have. I left because I had my reasons."

How ridiculous, not because of love, but because of too much love. Love enough to leave him, no matter how he begged her to stay?
