Exploring Technology in a Wizard World Chapter 318

Chapter 318: Chapter 317: Slaughter in the Darkness Chapter 318: Chapter 317: Slaughter in the Darkness The door to Frank’s Tavern was opened, and a plainly dressed man and woman stepped inside.

The man looked unremarkable, but the woman had a voluptuous figure that turned heads; it was Suo Men and Mu Konni.

Members of the Steel Brotherhood were drawn to the newcomers, casting glances their way before their faces hardened with wariness.

Fei’er, who had been sitting in the depths of the tavern, slowly stood up, eyeing the pair as they entered. Frowning deeply, he demanded, “Who are you? Why have you entered our private tavern? You are not welcome here. Please leave immediately, or don’t blame us for being rude.”

Fei’er spoke calmly but with a grave seriousness.

Suo Men glanced at Fei’er without a word and strode forward. Mu Konni followed, her interest piqued as she looked around at the semi-naked, muscular men. She extended her pale, slender fingers, placing them on the bare chest of one such man and slowly sliding them across. The man’s eyes flashed with a threatening glare, while Mu Konni giggled nonstop.

“What exactly are you?” Fei’er asked Suo Men and Mu Konni for the second time.

Suo Men stopped and shot a glance at Fei’er before nodding, “You’re the Steward here, right?”

“You want to know who I am, right?”

“Well then, how about we make a deal?”

“Hm? What kind of deal?”

“You answer a question of mine, and then I’ll tell you who I am.”

“What do you want to ask?”

“My question is quite simple,” Suo Men said, looking Fei’er in the eye. “It is this: not long ago, your brotherhood received a book, an unusual book that came from outside White Stone City. I want to know who you were supposed to give this book to and where it is now?”

After hearing Suo Men’s words, Fei’er’s brows twitched, his face unchanging as still water, “So that’s the question.”

Speaking, Fei’er sat back down and tapped lightly on the table three times, “Thud, thud, thud.”

The Chief thug Ji Luo, Baki, and Ez all stood up, their expressions cold and stern. Other members of the Steel Brotherhood surrounded Suo Men and Mu Konni, encircling them with a clear message.

Fei’er picked up a cup of water from the table, took a light sip, and said to Suo Men, “I don’t feel inclined to answer your question. Besides, you indeed shouldn’t be here, so… please leave.”

“Out!” The burly men surrounding Suo Men and Mu Konni roared in unison, like thunder, full of intimidating power. They glared at the pair, clearly implying that force would be used if Suo Men and Mu Konni refused to leave.

Suo Men showed no fear, even appearing rather bold. He took a step forward and lightly pushed the muscular man in front of him.

The man tensed, intent on holding his ground, not allowing Suo Men to get by. But for some reason, his legs suddenly gave way, his body swayed, and he was brushed aside as effortlessly as a rootless weed on water.

Suo Men continued forward, touching and pushing people aside, until he reached a wall of the tavern.

A bronze candlestick was affixed to the wall, with a white candle lit upon it, burning–it was part of the tavern’s lighting.

Suo Men stopped before this candle, turning his head towards Fei’er as the candlelight reflected on his face.

“Are you sure you want to force me to leave? Maybe it would be best for you to cooperate and answer my question… otherwise, you might regret it.”

Fei’er remained seated, looking at Suo Men, locking eyes with him. His gaze flickered once, twice, thrice.

Finally, he uttered, “Attack!”

In an instant, members of the Steel Brotherhood attacked Suo Men and Mu Konni without hesitation, raining down a flurry of punches.

Just as the punches seemed about to hit Suo Men, he let out a disdainful snort and, in the next moment, blew gently at the candle beside him.

The candle was blown out, and in an instant, all the candles and oil lamps used for lighting in the tavern were extinguished, plunging the entire tavern into darkness.

The Steel Brotherhood members were startled; the punches they threw felt as if they hit nothing, causing panic in their hearts–a bad premonition arose within them.

Suo Men’s voice clearly sounded in everyone’s ears, “Poor ants, I intended to spare you a path to life, but you are so foolish that death seems the better option.”

In the darkened tavern, a flash of fire several meters long appeared.

The blaze was flat, like a silver streak, like White Silk, more so like a blade’s edge.

The fiery “blade” sliced into flesh, making a sound of blood and tissue being cut, followed by screams.

It wasn’t one person, nor two, but a group of people screaming in pain, collapsing amid their cries.

The remaining people were in a state of panic, enlarging their eyes to peer around. But because of the sudden plunge into darkness, their eyes could not adjust, and they could see nothing.

The remaining people’s heavy breathing allowed them to clearly feel the breath from their comrades nearby spraying onto their own faces.

Someone attempted to call out calmly, “Light the candles, light… Ah!”

Before he could finish, his voice turned into a scream.

The second flat, fiery “blade” appeared, and another large group of people fell.

“Damn it, fight them… Ah!”

The third flat, fiery “blade” appeared.

“The devil, it’s the Wizard, run, open the door… Ah!”

The fourth flat, fiery “blade” appeared.

Then came the fifth, the sixth, the seventh…

After a while, the flat, fiery “blades” disappeared, and all members of the Steel Brotherhood had fallen in the darkness of the tavern. Most had no breath left in them, and a few with severe injuries were barely alive–not out of luck, but by Suo Men’s intention.

A flame sparked in the darkness, approaching a candle on the tavern’s wall sconce.

The candle was lit, and instantly all the candles and oil lamps used for lighting in the tavern followed suit, revealing the scene inside vividly.

There stood Suo Men and Mu Konni, as if they hadn’t moved at all, surrounded by a chaotic sprawl of bodies and people moaning from severe wounds.

Suo Men looked around, shaking his head slightly, muttering to himself, “Why bother?”

Despite his words, his face showed not a hint of pity as he walked over to a burly man still alive next to him, crouched down, and asked aloud, “Now, answer a question I had earlier, you’ve gotten your hands on a book–tell me, where is that book now? Also, whom were you planning to give it to? Tell me the answer, and you’ll live. Otherwise, I assure you, you will definitely not see tomorrow’s Sun.”
