Extra Borne: Transmigrated Into A System Apocalypse Soulsborne Novel Chapter 97

A tremor ran through the air, not a sound, not a movement.. just the crushing weight of existence buckling beneath two presences.

The loose camp open field, or whatever remained of it, was no longer a place of mere battle. It had become something else, a domain on the edge of annihilation, where the world itself seemed uncertain whether it could bear witness to what stood within it.

Agon and Haran.

Their auras alone had already begun unraveling, ripping the space around them.

The mist that clung to Agon twisted violently, lashing outward, distorting the very dense air. The earth beneath him darkened as if the soil itself had begun decaying under his presence.

Haran stood in opposition, his body exuding an oppressive, fluid force. The atmosphere around him rippled, shifting unnaturally, as if existence itself was bending to accommodate him. His deep brown eyes gleamed in the dim light, madness flickering just beneath the surface.

The world.. fragile, trembling seemed on the verge of collapse.

And then.... As if bound by an unspoken rule, both auras began to recede. The crushing pressure eased, though the air remained heavy, dense with the remnants of their restrained power.

Agon did not move. His deep yellow eyes remained fixed on Haran, unblinking, unreadable. The mist around him slowed, curling lazily, as if waiting.

Then, his voice came, quiet, steady.

"Why do you need my black larvae worm?"

Haran tilted his head slightly, the movement slow, deliberate, as if savoring the moment. Then, a smirk curled across his lips.

"Why should I tell you?"

A pause. The mist around Agon’s form thickened.

"Because," Agon said, his voice calm, as if he were merely stating a fact. "Depending on your answer, I’ll decide what kind of death you deserve."

Silence..

Then.

Laughter...

Low at first. A quiet chuckle that grew, shaking, unraveling into something wilder, something deeper.

Haran laughed.

A full-bodied, reckless sound that echoed through the empty night.

"Kill me?" His voice dripped with amusement, with disbelief. His laughter continued, unchecked, as if the very idea was absurd. "Do you think you can?"

Agon did not answer..

He did not blink.

He did not react.

He only stared.

Unmoving. Unshaken... Like a judge sending an absolute judgement on a convict and asking if the prosecuted have any last words before their end....

Haran’s laughter faltered.. just slightly, but the grin on his lips only widened. He exhaled, breath unsteady, chest rising and falling in exhilaration.

"You’ve been living in this world ever since birth," Haran murmured, his voice a whisper against the weight of the night. "And you already know what the rule of the system says…"

Slowly, he stretched his arms wide, his movements smooth, unhurried.

His gaze lifted toward the sky.. toward the vast, empty expanse of the night.

The air grew colder.

The wind, nonexistent.

The world... silent. A deep silence..

Then, his voice, a whisper, a decree.

"Evolve or die."

And in that moment, the earth itself shuddered.

As neither of them moved.

No shifting of feet, no breath of wind. Nothing.

It was as if something... something beyond the grasp of the physical, had seized them both, holding them in place.

But they knew.

It wasn’t an external force.

It was them.

A silent clash, an unseen battlefield unfolding beyond flesh and motion.

Then..

They struck.

The earth trembled beneath them as both Agon and Haran lunged at the same time, their forms distorting in a collision beyond mere bodies.

Haran’s smile widened, deep brown eyes gleaming with something sharp, something thrilled.

"Good… good," he murmured, almost breathless. "You are like me."

Agon said nothing. His deep yellow eyes remained steady, locked onto Haran with that same unreadable calm.

Haran mistook it for silence.

He didn’t see it.

Not yet.

Not until it was too late.

A shift. A flicker.

Then...

His body stiffened.

His fingers twitched, limbs locking unnaturally as if something had reached inside him, sinking deep past bone and thought.

Haran’s breath caught in his throat. The smirk faltered... not in fear, but in that brief, flickering moment of realization.

"You just lost another avatar," Agon murmured, his voice quiet, almost amused.

Then.

Haran’s body moved.

Not by his will. Not by his command.

Something else was there. Something inside.

It dragged him forward, slow, unnatural, his limbs jerking like a marionette caught in the strings of an unseen force.

Agon’s mist curled around his fingers, an ethereal tide shifting with the pulse of something far more insidious.

Mist Parasite..

An infestation. A possession. A control that went beyond mere flesh, beyond simple movement. A corruption that burrowed deep, threading through the essence of its host.

Haran’s thoughts flickered, stuttering as something else pressed against them.

A parasite... no, an absolute infestation.

But Agon already knew.

He had seen it.

The moment Haran uttered those words.. Evolve or die.

The real body was already gone.

What stood before him now was merely a discarded shell. A trap meant to ensnare, to deceive.

And Agon had played the game.. only on his own terms.

The night stretched on, vast and unmoving.

Then, Agon’s gaze shifted.

Standing near the lone, skeletal tree he once sat on the branch, he slowly turned his eyes toward the dark gap between two twisted trunks.

A figure emerged.

Haran.

The real one.

Stepping forward, slowly, deliberately, the echo of his own stolen avatar still jerking in Agon’s unseen grasp.

He clapped his hands together once, the sound hollow, unnatural against the stillness.

His grin.. widened, sharp, unfazed.

"You’re stronger than you look," he mused. "But how about I show you something… a little different?"

His voice was light, almost casual. But something in the air shifted.

Then... He began to chant.

And it wasn’t his voice that spoke.

It was something beyond him, something that rang from everywhere and nowhere at once.

A whisper woven into the fabric of existence itself.

"Bury the light.

Consume the night.

Let all shudder at the sight of the blight."

The world itself began tensing up as he continued...

FOR I AM THE ONE WHO BRINGS THE ALL CONSUMING DARKNESS."

The moment the last word fell, the gloomy night sky shattered.

The field, the loose camp.. everything vanished.

What replaced it was nothing.

Not darkness. Not shadow.

Something worse.

A consuming abyss, where even the concept of light had no meaning. A place where even shadows could not exist, where even the tiniest glimmer of form was devoured whole.

A darkness that did not conceal.

A darkness that unmade.

And in the void, in the silence..

Haran’s voice rose, echoing without sound as he spoke the Final Tone.

DOMAIN WEAVER: DARKNESS DOMAIN.

And the world was no more.
