Extra Survival Guide to Overpowering Hero and Villain Chapter 4

"By the way, if I recall correctly, you are a Spirit Mage, right?" Fenric asked casually.

Mavis lifted an eyebrow at him before shaking her head. "I'm sorry, Your Highness, but I have already checked. You do not have even an ounce of talent for Spirit Magic. I cannot help you."

Fenric chuckled, shaking his head. "That's not what I meant."

Mavis now curios slightly asked. "Then what are you implying?"

"I met a girl. She has talent like you." He paused, watching Mavis's reaction before continuing. "I may be wrong, but her name is Elaine. She's a poor commoner and is currently studying at the Academy, learning magic right now."

" Her presence was like you, so, I thought she might have talent for Spirit magic "

Mavis stilled for a moment, processing his words.

"You can check on her yourself or ignore it. It's none of my business," Fenric added nonchalantly, turning on his heels to leave.

As his hovering chair faded into the distance, Mavis narrowed her eyes, tapping her fingers lightly against the book she had been holding.

"Should I check it?" She murmured to herself.

She is even considering it cause, Fenric was once a brightest star, the star that is dying yet it still holds the shine-his talent.....He can be right about her.

For a moment, she hesitated—but curiosity had already taken root.

"Maybe you see something I don't, Third Prince."

Mavis sighed, closing her book. "And maybe... this could be the opportunity I've been waiting for."

Meanwhile, Fenric smirked to himself as he moved further into the depths of the library.

"Good, she took the bait, Now I am alone inside."

Now that he had sent Mavis on a side mission, he could move freely.

"Time to grab that treasure."

A Spirit is not merely a being—it is the purest embodiment of nature's will, an existence that transcends physical form. Born from the essence of the world itself, Spirits are manifestations of the elements, shaped by the forces of mana that flow through all things.

They are neither gods nor mortals but something in between—fragments of creation, whispering between the seams of reality. Some are as small as flickering motes of light, while others take on grand, ethereal forms, standing as guardians of nature's balance.

And a Spirit Mage is an being who form contracts with such beings and use their abilities as his, but there are only few who can do this, thus making Spirit magic one of the most rare profession and as well as most sorted by many people in Power.

Though, in the future, the Fourth Prince—who was even more talentless than the Third Prince—formed a bond with a Spirit. It was an absurd event, as he had no affinity for Spirit Magic, yet he managed to bind with one.

"And the very reason lies in this book," Fenric mused as he sat, looking at the book in his hand on Spirit Magic. The Spirit Sage's Legacy was an ancient book, long forgotten and rotting in this section of the Royal Library.

The reason no one sought after it was simple: It was disguised as introduction for Spirit Magic, Plus one need to have no spirit magic affinity to even activate the Spirit sage legacy.

The reason no spirit affinity is required cause of the reason spirit sage himself didn't have any affinity for it. Yet, despite this, he rose to power as the legendary Spirit Sage. His secret? The Fairy Ring.

It was an object of mystery—a relic he obtained in his childhood, that help him rose as the strongest Spirit Mage and now that very ring is sealed within the very pages of this book.

Fenric looked at the book, his eyes scanning the library. After ensuring no one was around, he grabbed a quill pen and pricked his finger, letting a single drop of blood fall onto the aged pages.

This was the very method through which the Fourth Prince had stumbled upon the book's secret. However, in his case, he had discovered it purely by accident—by smashing the book against his servant's face, causing the servant's blood to stain its cover.

The event was clearly described in the book.

One day, while a servant was carrying a Dark Magic book for the Fourth Prince as usual, he accidentally bumped into Mavis, leading to an unintended exchange of books.

At that moment, neither of them noticed that the servant had mistakenly took the wrong book to Prince Drake—instead of the Dark Magic tome, he had handed over "An Introduction to Spirit Magic," which Mavis had been carrying.

Drake, upon seeing the book, was enraged.

Feeling as if the servant was mocking him for his lack of talent in Spirit Magic, he grabbed the book and mercilessly thrashed the servant with it.

The impact caused the book to be stained with the poor servant's blood—and in doing so, it broke a hidden seal within its pages.

Thus, the book revealed its true hidden treasure, and that's how Drake obtained the Spirit contract.

And just like that, an ancient, long-buried secret had been revealed, but now it will be obtained by Michael first.

As the drop of blood touched the book's surface, a blinding light erupted, forcing Fenric to shield his eyes. When the glow faded, the once old and tattered leather book had transformed.

Now, it lay before him—a pristine black tome adorned with silver engravings along its casing, and at its center, a gleaming gem that pulsed like a heartbeat.

"The Grimoire of the Spirit Sage," Fenric whispered, his fingers tracing the intricate patterns on the cover.

His heart pounded as he opened it, revealing crisp, untouched pages filled with ancient knowledge. The first passage alone sent shivers down his spine:

"The Spirit Sage's legacy was never that of power but of bonds. He who steps upon the unseen path shall seek the fairy ring, the gate between realms. For the spirits grant strength not to the strongest, but to the one who listens."

Fenric's eyes widened as symbols on the pages began to glow faintly, pulsing with an eerie rhythm. Then, as if in response to his presence, a gust of wind stirred through the silent library, rustling the pages forward—toward a hidden passage he had not yet turned.

It was an unknown language, its intricate symbols dancing across the pages like flowing water. But Fenric recognized it instantly.

"The lost language of Fairies," he muttered under his breath.

Once, the Fairies were among the most mystical races of Eldoria, beings of immense magical affinity. But during the Great Demon War, they were nearly wiped out, their kind hunted to the brink of extinction.

Now, only a small number of their people remained—so elusive that neither heroes nor villains had ever uncovered their village.

Even in the original story, the hero had only met a single fairy—one who had helped him at a great cost.
