Enrick’s hypothesis was indeed correct. Lucien never wanted to burn down the bridge; everything was discussed beforehand, part of a full plan. By making them seem like the Gold Section was trying to burn down the bridge, the third division of the enemy would be busy making sure the bridge isn’t burned, wasting their mana reserves. And that would create another opportunity....something they would be using very well.
The professors and evaluators observed everything critically, and they all genuinely marveled at the ingenious methods that the Gold Section was using. Not everyone or every team can do such a thing or have the courage to attempt such. And they could also tell that the Golden Section was not in fact trying to burn down the bridge, and they could tell this by the property of the flame itself.
The flame of Lucian felt a bit strange to all the powerhouses, but they could not put a finger on what was so unique about it. The interesting thing was that the flame seemed not to fully burn the fibers of the hanging bridge; it only slightly scorched it and nothing more. While it remains extremely lethal against everything else but that. As if it were a flame that was created or modified for the sole purpose of using it in this particular situation.
This fact in itself amazed all the evaluators even more.
The battle raged on continuously, Heinz and his first division held down the line, not moving backward even in inch from the start of the fight, in fact from the moment when the fire arrows were raining down on the enemy third division, who were launching long range attacks on them previously, now that they could not, they were the ones pushing back the attackers first division albeit very slightly, since they had to maintain a tight defense so that no one escapes to the fortress behind them.
The increased boost because of Heinz’s warlord aspect was also greatly helping everyone under his division, and Heinz himself was feeling a great boost. As the battle raged on. He was becoming more and more savage while fighting the enemy division leader.
Though at a certain point in battle, Ken Dusker was causing some problems, for who knows what reason, he was taken care of in a bit of an unorthodox manner by the orders of the valkyrie herself.
The siege arrows were all fired continuously one after another, and in the same method as the first time, Lumina and her group slowed them down using various methods, and Thorian diverted them every time. He would be in a bad state after diverting the arrows, then forcefully recover through drinking potions. The clock was ticking, it’s already been almost 2 hours or so since the start of the battle.
The valkyrie stood at the top of the fortress on the railings, she kept gazing intently at the battlefield as a whole. Her eyes darted everywhere from the fight between the first divisions of both armies, to the bombardment of the fire arrows at the third division of the Section-C, to the Siege arrows that were constantly being shot at the steel door of the fortress. By now, a large number of siege arrows had been gathered on both sides of the large steel gate.
She also gazed at the enemy commander on the other side, who seemed to be talking to some of the fortifiers there. She could easily tell that he was planning something. But she didn’t care, this game, all of it, it all looked so tiny, so pathetic, with no real consequences, no death. No torture and so many limiting factors here and there. This entire thing to her looked like a joke, like a children’s playground. The plan she made now almost seems an overkill.
Her gaze landed on Heinz, and she ordered,
[It’s time, push them back harder.]
She thought to herself, seeing that no trace of Axel could be seen anywhere,
’I hope he finishes this fast; this is becoming even boring to look at.’
Heinz grunted at that order and relayed it to his division members. They all gritted their teeth and started to push back the enemy with even more power and frenzied attacks. For both sides, every single Seeker who was fighting was in a bloody and battered state, but they held on regardless and fought relentlessly.
While the 3rd division of the attackers were more and more exhausted, unable to properly recover their mana as the next rain of arrows would fire again. And every time the number of fire arrows raining would increase again and again, it would also target a much wider area, continuing to make their job difficult as they would recover less and less of their mana reserves.
And their entire third division had to defend the bridge against the arrows, so for that reason, they could not take turns and recover. The division leader had already contacted their commander, asking for a solution or some kind of change in the situation; otherwise, they would definitely lose, from being simply exhausted. Just as they thought that the situation could not get any worse.
They saw that the first division was getting pushed back and the enemy’s first division suddenly dropped their shields, and stopped for a moment, their division leader, Heinz Gil, grinning wickedly, stored away both the sword and shield he was using; all the members in his division did the same. They all showed a smile for a moment, except for Luther, the third princess, and his lackeys. Slowly, different kinds of rune-engraved weapons started to appear on all of their hands one by one.
Yes, they were all rune-engraved weapons made by Axel. That’s right, it was something proposed by him. For everyone who actively took part in battle, they all should have a runic weapon of his creation, something that would boost their combat prowess tremendously, in mid-battle, when right at the moment when your enemy is downright exhausted, and the very next instant.
Heinz’s entire division, everyone in it, lunged at their enemies, using the engraved abilities in the sword, and the boost received from them, one after another enemy Seekers began to be teleported out as each one of them got critically injured because of the sudden increase in power, in their enemies.
Almost 20% of both sections’ first divisions were already eliminated. Barely 80% remained on both sides, but on the attackers’ side, the numbers were likely fewer. And the attackers were now being eliminated at an even faster pace.
Even Lumina and her team brought out rune-inscribed artifacts that can be used by the magic branch aspects. Thorian was already using a runic sword, but this time he brought out another one, something better, more efficient, more deadly, to deflect the siege arrows.
