"What do you mean I'm fired?" Roland's irritated voice resounded at the back of the restaurant.
Standing in front of him was a middle-aged fat man who was wearing a light gray uniform. A nameplate that read, 'Gustav' and 'Manager' right below it was written in bold font was on his right chest.
Earlier, Roland had just knocked on the door on the back of the restaurant when Gustav emerged and immediately said that he's fired.
Originally, Roland wanted to resign, but resigning was vastly different from being fired. One was voluntary while the other was forceful. It did not sit well with Roland. He wanted to leave peacefully but why did it come to this?
"It is what it is, kid!" Gustav shrugged coldly.
"Just search for a new job. You're a hard-working kid, I know you'll be able to find a job easily." He continued as he whipped out a cigarette to smoke.
"Why are you firing me?" Roland asked.
Being fired was too sudden for him. As far as he knew, he did not do anything wrong.
"Nothing too serious kid. It's just that you provoked someone you could not afford to cross," Gustav added with a matter of factly voice as he blew a smoke out of his mouth.
The smell of cigarettes assaulted Roland's nose. Hearing what Gustav said, a certain someone's face suddenly appeared on his mind.
"It's Bryan, isn't it?"
Gustav turned to look at him, puffed a smoke before saying, "Of course it's him. Who told you to provoke him anyways? Anyways, I heard that it was his new girlfriend that urged him to make me fire you. What did you do exactly to earn their ire?"
Roland did not answer his question, instead, he posed a question on his own, "How much did they pay you?"
"Pay? As if I'll stoop too low for such a matter. Listen kid, this fast-food restaurant that we are standing right now is just one of their properties. If Bryan says he wants to fire someone in here, we don't have a choice but to do it."
Gustav laughed as he shook his head, "Even if our relationship is good, you don't expect me to shoulder the brunt for you, do you?"
"Listen, I know someone who might have a job for you. Just get your phone ready, I'll contact you soon."
"A word of advice kid, don't earn the ire of them, wealthy folks. They can be pretty petty you know. They'll just let their money work and we, ordinary peeps won't even know what's gonna hit us."
"Alright, break's over," Gustav walked back inside the restaurant as he threw the burnt cigarette on the ashbin.
Roland's brows were knitted together as he looked at Gustav's disappearing back.
Anna's hateful face appeared on his mind at this moment. However, there was no longer any respect left for him to think, only hate filled his mind as he recalled that ugly face.
To think that Anna would be so cruel to even fire him for his only job.
If he did not happen to awaken the System at the right moment, where will he go after being fired at his only job?
It was at this moment that Roland realized that he was pampering a princess, but actually an actual snake. And now, the snake has turned its head and decided to bite him, not only once, not only twice, but multiple times.
"How hateful! Does she really want me to crawl into the mud and become homeless?!"
Anna knew full well about his situation, or of how poor he was. He did not expect for her to be this cruel to even urge Bryan to let Gustav fire him.
What he also did not expect was for this fast-food restaurant to be one of Bryan's family's businesses as well.
Roland turned around. Not bothering about the 'resignation' matter anymore. His mind was firm as he vowed to himself, never to get bullied like this again.
The wealthy can do as they please because of their money? Well, it just so happened that he also has a lot of money as well.
Just in time, Roland was considering starting a business so that he has his own flow of income. He already had slightly less than 500000 Global Dollars in his bank account, which was more than enough to start a fast-food chain restaurant to rival their business.
An eye for an eye. He won't stop until Bryan's family goes bankrupt. They could only blame Bryan for getting himself a snake as a girlfriend.
As for the snake herself? Her time will also come.
Roland was confident, with the assistance of the Face-Slapping System, what can't he accomplish?
Losing a job because of Bryan and Anna? Won't it be a big slap of the face to them if he started the same kind of business right in front of theirs?
With his mind set in tone, Roland pulled out his phone and dialed Butler Frank's number that was added earlier.
"Mr. Frank, where are you right now?"
"I am currently at your rented apartment, Master. Do you have any instructions for me, Master?"
Roland was surprised when he heard that. He just got here with Stacey a moment ago and Butler Frank was also already at the rented apartment?
How quick was he?
"Did you commute here?" Roland could not help but ask.
"No Master. As you already know, there is a Ronda Civic included when you bought the villa. I am currently using this Ronda Civic, Master." Butler Frank answered, his tone was flat, as he suggested that Roland already knew that there was a free car.
However, from Roland's question over the phone, Butler Frank already guessed that he did not know at all. But as a good butler, he must consider his master's feelings and must make good choices on his words.
"Ah, I see. Well, tell me if you're already on your way home. Come pick me up at the university later once you're done," Roland said.
And Butler Frank was right. He was truly not aware that there was a Ronda Civic included when the villa was bought by the System. He also did not see it when they toured the house, Roland wondered where the car was parked before.
"Will do, Master." Butler Frank answered.
"Alright, thanks!"
"It's my pleasure, Master."
After Roland ended the call, he looked for a public toilet as he thought that it was finally time to buy the Soul Enhancement Potion.
