Famous Among Top Surgeons in the 90s Chapter 111

Chapter 111: 【111】Senior brother is considerate of junior sister

This kind of treatment is usually only available to directors and deputy directors. It’s clear that Handsome Cao’s status is quite extraordinary.

Without much thought, Cao Yong casually tossed his office keys to his junior brother, “If you feel the on-call room isn’t comfortable to sleep in, come sleep in my office at night, it’s quieter.”

“Thank you, senior brother!” Huang Zhilei gratefully accepted the keys.

Sometimes the on-call room is packed with people, and once someone gets up after their shift, it’s impossible to lie back down again. The issue of sleep for doctors has always been a critical one.

Before long, Huang Zhilei ordered breakfast to be delivered from a morning diner, and the waiter soon brought over the meals.

The three of them sat on small stools, using the coffee table in Handsome Cao’s office as a dining table, and started eating. The breakfast was lavish, with rice noodle rolls, porridge, eggs, and deep-fried dough sticks with bread. The two senior brothers ate heartily, and Xie Wanying couldn’t be bothered with modesty either. As Handsome Cao said, after staying up late and a few sprints, she was starving.

Watching her eat breakfast, Cao Yong bent down to search for the tea caddy under the coffee table.

“I didn’t bring any tea back with me, I’ll get some later,” Cao Yong said regretfully after not finding it. He had known earlier, he could have personally brewed flower tea for his junior sister.

“Senior brother, are you going home later?” Huang Zhilei asked.

Cao Yong remembered what Xiao Du had said about the dean inviting him over for dumplings. Under the current circumstances, he could only go in the evening, and he also needed to go home to sleep. He said to his junior brother and sister, “You two go take a nap, then get back to work afterward.”

Xie Wanying was thinking about which on-call room to sleep in later after her 24-hour shift with her senior brother, waiting for him to make arrangements for her. Instead, the two senior brothers told her, “Go back to school to sleep.”

The on-call room is not a good place to sleep.

“It’s fine, we’ll call you back to the hospital if there’s any situation,” Huang Zhilei added for her.

As a trainee, if there’s a chance to slack off, better do it now; the days of being a doctor will be tough later. This was the senior brother’s considerate advice, born from experience, for his junior sister.

Thus, she was sent back to school by her seniors without further ado to catch up on sleep.

At six o’clock in the morning, with biting cold winds, Xie Wanying took off her white coat, which had her name and department written on it, and threw it into the dirty laundry basket in the department designated by her senior brother, to be centrally washed and disinfected by the hospital laundry.

She put on her overcoat, ran down the road to warm-up, and then headed back to the school dorm. Once back, she thought it was a good thing she had bought several white coats just in case.

Having had a full breakfast, she slept until three in the afternoon. It is indeed hard to be a doctor, no wonder so many young doctors suffer from stomach issues.

She got up, washed her face, and prepared oatmeal and biscuits to eat, waiting for it to be a little past five o’clock to go to the dining hall for dinner.

In that moment, Xie Wanying couldn’t help but think of her mother. The oatmeal and biscuits were what her mother had insisted she buy over the phone. She initially wanted to save money by not buying them but got lectured by her mother on the phone.

Sun Rongfang’s concerns as a mother were just like any other mother’s: regardless of whether the sky was falling, as long as her child wasn’t going hungry and wasn’t hurting her body, that was what mattered most.

“Mom,” Xie Wanying said, munching on the biscuits and thinking of her mother’s kindness, a bit teary-eyed. The people who love children most in the world are definitely their mothers.

Senior Brother Huang hadn’t called yet, so Xie Wanying booted up her computer to check if there were any messages from her class.

Upon opening QQ, she found that she had been added to a group. It was a group created by her own class.

Seeing her come online, a bunch of her classmates popped up.

Zhao Zhaowei said to her, “Yingying, don’t rush into the large group and chat, it’s chaotic.”
