Famous Among Top Surgeons in the 90s Chapter 121

Chapter 121: 【121】Hurry, emergency rescue 2

Speaking of which, Doctor Jiang caught sight of Dr. Lin’s back and called out, “Old Lin, I have a question for you.”

Dr. Lin, who was called, turned back around.

Dr. Lin was somewhat skinny, with a refined appearance, and about the same age as Doctor Jiang. Both were attendings, but Dr. Lin wore a more serious expression on his face, giving the impression of someone not too easy to talk to. Therefore, Doctor Jiang felt a little uneasy when he greeted him.

After all, General Surgery Department One specialized in gastrointestinal diseases, while Cardiology dealt with heart conditions. They didn’t interact much on a daily basis and weren’t very familiar with each other.

“What’s the matter?” Dr. Lin, whose eyes were intently watching the blood pressure being taken by a nurse for a patient, obviously wasn’t too pleased to be interrupted with a question at that moment.

“It’s , could I take a look at the medical records of the patient from Cardiology that you admitted to the emergency room?” Doctor Jiang approached him tentatively.

“Do you know that patient?” Having confirmed that the patient’s blood pressure wasn’t high, Dr. Lin managed to find a moment to counter-question Doctor Jiang.

“I don’t,” Doctor Jiang couldn’t lie.

“Why do you want to see his medical records?” Dr. Lin turned his head and scrutinized his colleague, probably finding Doctor Jiang’s request quite odd. If it wasn’t a patient he knew, why the curiosity to see their medical records?

“Let me explain. It’s about this intern, Xie Wanying. She’s particularly concerned about this patient, possibly because—,” Doctor Jiang whispered into Dr. Lin’s ear, hoping to quickly move him with the medical student’s concern.

Dr. Lin’s brows knotted almost instantly, and he nearly shouted at Doctor Jiang: What are you talking about? Where do you think this is, the emergency department! Here in the emergency department, we barely have time to handle patients, let alone to discuss medical records with interns. If you want to discuss, please go back to the school, or wait until there’s downtime in the inpatient department to discuss at leisure.

“Old Lin, look, just let me see the records. You go on with your work, and I’ll talk to her,” Doctor Jiang said, seeing Dr. Lin’s expression and having to resort to cajoling.

“You’re really at leisure? Your surgery department has run out of patients to see?” Dr. Lin was a little temperamental.

The Cardiology department was indeed busy, while the Surgery department seemed to be having a leisurely time, even free enough to chat with interns.

Of course, Doctor Jiang had patients to see; he was just taking a brief break, without any new surgical patients coming into the emergency room for the moment. The emergency room was always — sometimes patients came in droves, other times there would be a lull.

Seeing this, Doctor Jiang scratched his head again, troubled about how to find another way through.

When the conversation ceased, Xie Wanying, who stood behind her senior, suddenly started running.

She dashed through the crowd like a gust of wind. Huang Zhilei and others turned in surprise, watching her and not knowing what had gotten into her.

“Why did she run off?” Dr. Lin asked the two in front of him.

“I don’t know,” Doctor Jiang honestly replied.

“Is she the one who wanted to see the patient’s records? Why would she run, scared I would scold her?” Dr. Lin complained, thinking that modern medical students were such snowflakes, running away without him even saying much.

“No, definitely not,” Huang Zhilei, who had seen the capability of his junior the night before, trusted her and promptly dismissed Dr. Lin’s suggestion, “My junior sister would never run away.”

“Then why did she suddenly run?” Dr. Lin, as a senior, started instructing Huang Zhilei, “She’s new to the internship and doesn’t understand, didn’t you tell her? If someone in a white coat suddenly starts running in the emergency room, the public can’t tell if she’s a doctor or an intern and might panic. We’re all not running — you only run when it’s time for a patient’s emergency resuscitation—”
