The visit from the student advisor for an inspection, without prior notification, was enough to scare the soul out of any student.

“What are you doing in the emergency room? Weren’t you supposed to go to President Wu’s house? Hasn’t Cao Yong already gone? We were just waiting for us two.”
“Come to the emergency room for a moment. Anyway, I know you must be right outside the ER door now.”
To visit someone’s home, one had to pass by the ER door, because the employee dormitory buildings were built right next to the hospital back then.

“In the resuscitation room,” Ren Chongda put down his phone and waved to someone outside.

“What’s the matter?” Zhu Huicang asked, holding gifts meant for house-visiting—a couple of bags of fruit and candy.
“Take a look at the medical records,” Ren Chongda replied, taking the items from him.
Uncertain, Doctor Lin asked Zhu Huicang, “Do you have time? If you don’t, I will call your cardiothoracic department’s on-duty staff.”
Zhu Huicang didn’t want to deal with the situation; he wasn’t on duty, and so he cast an annoyed glance at Ren Chongda for summoning him.
Ren Chongda also blinked, wondering if he’d been too meddlesome.
Xie Wanying only knew that Father Liu’s condition couldn’t wait. Seizing the opportunity, she immediately said to her seniors, “Teacher, please take a look at the medical records. Just now, the patient’s heart stopped once, we can’t wait. And, outside, there’s only his seven-year-old daughter waiting for him. I asked his daughter, and she told me she has no mother and only her father left.”
The family information she revealed caused an uproar among the group.
“What did you just say?!”
“Old Lin, did you know about this?”
“I didn’t know! Nobody told me that, she didn’t mention this situation when she handed over the shift to me!”
It meant that just a moment ago, the world was almost one orphan richer, with no mother or father.
If this father died, how could the doctor tell a seven-year-old girl that her father was dead.
