Chapter 143: The boss shows up
The small hand hugged the paper crane glass bottle, Zhenzhen followed her sister and walked in. She quickly caught sight of her dad through the large glass and pressed her little cheeks to the window, calling out, “Dad, Dad——”
Father Liu, having slept inside, had a night’s rest and a lot of the anesthesia had worn off, so he was much more awake. Lying on the bed, he looked up to see his daughter’s little face, his mouth moving.

Time passed quickly, and the doctor said dad needed to rest. Zhenzhen held up the paper crane bottle to show her father: “Doctor Sister and I folded these paper cranes for dad, and with this, dad will get well very soon.”
The corners of Father Liu’s eyes were moist.
Time was up. When it was time to leave, Xie Wanying entrusted the paper crane glass bottle to the nurses, asking them to sterilize it before placing it beside Father Liu’s bed, hoping it would encourage him to recover more quickly.

While they were talking to the child, neither paid attention to several people who had come into the corridor and stood by, listening to their conversation.
The call connected, and Xie Wanying got through to her senior brother.
“Haven’t you seen anyone yet?” Huang Zhilei asked her, “According to our hospital colleagues handling this matter, they said his company was going to send someone over this morning to visit the patient. Afterwards, his company’s people might bring Zhenzhen’s grandparents to the hospital in the afternoon to see the child.”
“I haven’t noticed anyone yet; I’m at the ICU entrance.” Xie Wanying held the phone and looked around. There were many family members of patients and hospital staff in the corridor, and not being Sherlock Holmes, she couldn’t tell who was from Father Liu’s company.
“You can bring Zhenzhen back to the hospital this afternoon to check again. I’ll let you know as soon as I get the message,” Huang Zhilei told her.
Knowing that her senior brother was tired from the night shift the night before, Xie Wanying didn’t dare delay his rest any longer and hung up the phone as soon as she had the information she needed.
It wasn’t practical to bring the child along for her senior brother’s shift at work, so next, she and the friend who had just arrived went outside to find a nice restaurant for lunch.

“How is that stuff tasty?” Xie Wanying, as a doctor, disapproved of giving children fried food as their main meals, “Let’s have Zhajiangmian instead.”
That worked; after all, Zhajiangmian was famous in the Capital.
The two of them took the child and left together.
After they left, those who had been listening to their conversation began to talk among themselves.
“President Qi, she seems to be Old Liu’s daughter.”
“I wonder why a doctor is with her?”
“You guys go check out what’s going on.”
“President Qi, we’ve got permission from the hospital to go in and see Old Liu now. It seems Old Liu can talk now.”
“Then let’s go in and ask Old Liu directly.”
