Famous Among Top Surgeons in the 90s Chapter 323

Chapter 323: Outpatient patients are incredibly diverse Chapter 323: Outpatient patients are incredibly diverse Suddenly receiving Teacher Sun’s approval, Xie Wanying hurriedly called to arrange a patient admission.

The patient’s two sons were overjoyed, almost dropping to their knees on the spot, “Dr. Xie, thank you, thank you–Mom, you’re going to be okay–”

“You all go out and wait outside for now.” Knowing that Teacher Tan, who was calm by nature, didn’t like such scenes, Xie Wanying, acting as Tan’s assistant, spoke gently to the patient’s family.

“Understood, the doctors are busy.” Anyway, since the doctor had agreed to admit the patient, the two sons supported their mother and left first.

“You write the medical records.” Tan Kelin casually tossed the medical record to the student for practice.

Xie Wanying took the medical records with both hands.

“Let the next patient in.”

Teacher Tan wouldn’t wait for her to finish writing the medical records before seeing more patients.

Xie Wanying quickly walked to the door to call the next patient, “Fang Wei.”

As the patient entered upon hearing his name called, she swiftly returned to the desk to start the admission order for the first patient, setting aside the medical records to write later, since the patient’s family would have to queue for admission procedures.

Having completed the admission order, she took it outside to instruct the family, “Take this to the nurse, who will tell you what to do next. The nurse is in the last treatment room down the hall. A bed will be available tomorrow, so you should process the paperwork today. Remember to come back here to get the medical records later.”

“Thank you, doctor,” the patient’s family quickly left to handle the procedures, supporting the patient.

After closing the door, she saw that the second patient had taken a seat, a young man in his twenties, working as an editor for a computer website. In the Capital, such editorial positions were highly coveted, and one could tell from the young man’s suit and shiny leather shoes that he was well-off. Thus, it was almost certain that he had purchased a scalper’s appointment.

The doctors couldn’t possibly gather evidence of scalpers nor manage such issues, as it was a problem for the hospital administration. The doctors’ responsibility was to treat patients who had received appointments.

The young patient, with a ruddy complexion, was vastly different from the first patient and didn’t seem to have a serious illness requiring surgery. What kind of ailment required him to buy an expensive scalper’s appointment to consult with an associate chief surgeon?

Xie Wanying couldn’t help but raise a question in her mind, remembering Teacher Sun’s words over the phone: “Outpatients are a diverse bunch, don’t be surprised by the types of people you encounter.”

Looking at Teacher Tan again, he was almost Buddha-like, with a face so indifferent it seemed he might not even sigh.

Tan Kelin, as usual, flipped through the patient’s medical records a few times before sliding them to the student.

Xie Wanying, understanding her teacher’s intent for her to write the medical records, found a chair to sit on. She opened the first patient’s records and began writing swiftly. The elderly lady didn’t need any medication; a record of her main complaints and physical signs, along with an instruction to be admitted, was all that was needed.

As she wrote, she had to listen to the second patient describe his symptoms so that she could write up his medical records, or else she would face Teacher Tan’s reprimand.

“I have abdominal pain and had passed black stools before. I’ve had a gastroscopy,” said the young man. “The doctor suggested that there might be just a small amount of gastric bleeding, and the gastroscopy showed some gastritis.”

“It was a gastroscopy done in our hospital’s outpatient clinic.” Teacher Tan’s calm and professional gaze fell on the gastroscopy report in the patient’s medical record, with the signature of the doctor above and the unmistakable stamp of Guoxie at the top. It was indeed seen in this hospital’s internal medicine outpatient clinic.

“The examination said it was nothing serious, and the doctor told me not to worry and to take some stomach medicine later. However, my stomach has been hurting again recently.” As he spoke, the patient touched his abdomen.

The two doctors looked over, judging preliminarily by his gaze where he was touching. It wasn’t his lower abdomen; he was touching the upper-middle part, somewhere in the center between the left and right sides.
