Arriving at the guesthouse booked by Teacher Zhuang, they moved their luggage inside and waited to register as new students at the school tomorrow.

Today’s campus was different from yesterday, with the auditorium opened for new student registration. Still, as every year saw a large number of new students, the students and their families were crowding together, turning the entire auditorium into a bustling marketplace.
Having been reincarnated, Xie Wanying was familiar with the university registration process and took her mother directly to the registration desk of her own department.
The two threaded their way through the long lines of students and eventually reached the last registration desk. There were long queues at the other departments, yet not a single person was in line at this desk.
For a moment, Sun Rongfang asked her daughter, “Have we come to the wrong place?”
“It should be correct,” Xie Wanying checked the red sign placed on the desk, which read “Guoxie Eight-Year Program Registration.”
“Why isn’t anyone queuing here?” Sun Rongfang looked around, and there were people everywhere to the right, yet no one at this spot, as if they had seen a ghost.
Xie Wanying waited for a while then saw a bespectacled male teacher rushing over, around fifty years old, with graying hair.
Sun Rongfang whispered to her daughter, “Doesn’t something seem off? Look at the others welcoming students, they’re all young; why is there an old man here?”
Unexpectedly, the “old man” teacher heard her and burst out laughing, “I’m sorry, your senior brothers and sisters are busy and can’t come to welcome you. Over there, it’s the senior students welcoming the freshmen. The class advisor for your program will be determined on the first day of class, so for now, the Director of Academic Affairs will be here to welcome you.”
“Director of Academic Affairs?” Sun Rongfang blinked.
“Yes, my surname is Jiang,” the “old man” teacher showed his work badge to them.
“Nice to meet you, Director Jiang, it’s our first time at the school, so we don’t know anything,” Sun Rongfang said, holding her daughter’s hand.
“It’s okay, no need to worry.”
“Hello, Teacher Jiang,” Xie Wanying stepped forward and gave a bow to the teacher.
Director Jiang was surprised and quickly stood up, helping her up, “No need, no need, please don’t be so formal.” After sitting down again, Director Jiang, clearly embarrassed by the politeness of Xie Wanying and her mother, covered his mouth and cleared his throat before saying, “I know who you are.”
“You know who we are?” Sun Rongfang asked in surprise.
“You’re Xie Wanying, right?” Director Jiang pointed his pen in Xie Wanying’s direction.
“You know my daughter’s name?” Sun Rongfang was even more astonished, as they had never met this man before.
“Of course, the science champion, right?” Director Jiang playfully winked at the two of them.
Sun Rongfang couldn’t help but laugh out loud, indicating to her daughter: this teacher is nice and has a sense of humor.
