“Yes.” Sister Lingling opened a drawer at the nurse’s station, found a flashlight, and handed it to her.
Xie Wanying walked to the end of the hospital ward corridor and shone the flashlight from the window down below to take a look.

There indeed was a figure walking there, dressed in what seemed like patient’s attire, with long hair–clearly a woman. It was very likely Li Yaxi since no other women would be passing through here in the middle of the night. If there were any, they would be hospital staff, wearing the hospital’s uniform.
“What’s she doing in outpatient at this hour? Think it’s fun?” Sister Lingling was getting exasperated with the patient. And then, of course, she needed to rush down and bring the patient back without delay.
“Lingling, did you take the blood pressure for Bed 23?” a colleague called out.
Hearing that, Xie Wanying said to Sister Lingling, “You go ahead with your work, I’ll go downstairs to find her.”
Upon hearing this, Sister Lingling said to her, “Be careful. Call me if there’s any trouble. You can call the security room directly. They have someone on duty at night.” She recited the security room’s phone number for her.
“Got it.” Xie Wanying nodded and hurried out of the ward.
All the way, she ran down the stairs, feeling as if someone was watching her. Xie Wanying turned around to look but saw no patient.
Finally, at the entrance to the outpatient building, she found the patient from Bed 38, Li Yaxi.
Li Yaxi, standing on the steps, turned her head.
Xie Wanying approached her and said firmly, “You must return to the ward.”
“I’m waiting for my friend, Doctor,” Li Yaxi said.
“Your friend is coming to the hospital in the middle of the night?”
“Yes, I ran out of phone credit. He said he’d come and buy me a recharge card,” Li Yaxi explained.
“Have you been on the phone all night?”
“Doctor, you don’t understand. Today is my lunar birthday. I can’t leave the hospital, so to cheer me up, they’ve been celebrating for me outside. Another friend of mine has the same birthday. He’s bringing me the card.”
Youth is about passion, celebrating birthdays until midnight.
Xie Wanying reached out to hold her, saying, “Let’s go back upstairs first. If he brings the card, I will get it for you. Okay?”

“Found her. Sister Lingling, take her back upstairs, will you? I’ll wait here to collect the item her friend is bringing,” Xie Wanying said.
Sister Lingling, without a second word, took Li Yaxi by the arm and started pulling her back, saying, “Tomorrow, I will call your family to talk some sense into you. You can’t just wander around the hospital in the middle of the night.”
Li Yaxi rolled her eyes.
Watching the two of them head back upstairs, Xie Wanying stood in place and waited nearly ten more minutes. Finally, a car stopped at the hospital entrance, and several men and women got out, greeted the security personnel, and walked toward her.
