Famous Among Top Surgeons in the 90s Chapter 577

Chapter 577: On the spot death Chapter 577: On the spot death The four-lane road, just as the driver had said, was reduced to a single lane that traffic could barely squeeze through; cars coming from both directions were trying to pass, jamming each other up. The traffic police would need to come to untangle the situation.

I saw people calling the emergency number from time to time, guessing that the traffic police’s line must be flooded with calls.

The doctors and their team, on their way to rescue the injured, squeezed through the gaps between several cars, and after running past a dozen or so vehicles, they finally reached the accident scene.

A small truck and a sedan had collided from the side for some unknown reason. The sedan’s front had slammed into the space between the truck’s cabin and engine, and likely due to the sedan’s high speed, the impact was severe, seriously deforming both vehicles’ driver compartments, with both drivers trapped at the wheel.

The rear seat of the sedan had two passengers who weren’t trapped, but none of the onlookers dared to move them, uncertain how to do so without risking further injury.

“Doctor, there’s another one over here–” someone from the crowd called out upon seeing the doctors arrive.

An injured person had been thrown from the car at the moment of the accident and was lying motionless about ten meters from the collision site.

Ren Chongda, hearing the call for help, turned and looked at the injured person, then quickly ran a few steps before realizing his student hadn’t followed.

From a distance, with just one glance at the injured person, Xie Wanying decisively chose to give up. Judging by the straight-line distance the person had been thrown, and the large pool of blood visible on the ground below the head of the distant figure, she predicted there was no hope for the victim.

Reaching the injured person lying on the ground, Ren Chongda bent down to check the patient’s breath, then felt the carotid artery, and examined the pupils: gone. He said to the others, “Cover her face with a piece of clothing or something.”

The deceased was a young woman, only about twenty years old. Ren Chongda stood up, relieved that his student hadn’t come; the sight could have been quite shocking, especially given their similar ages.

Hearing that the person was dead, the crowd around all seemed to want to cover their eyes.

Ren Chongda ran back to the sedan and truck.

Before the arrival of the police and firefighters, some of the crowd tried to break doors and smash windows to drag the male driver out of the truck’s cab.

“He can move; he should still be alive,” said a few onlookers.

Indeed, it was urgent to get all the victims out. When Xie Wanying arrived, she saw the leaking fuel from the car’s gas tank and felt a sense of alarm. If a fire started, anyone still alive inside the cars would be burnt to death.

Upon hearing her, the taxi driver that had followed her pried open the crumpled sedan door and pulled out the woman. There was a five-year-old boy inside, and without hesitation, Xie Wanying reached in to carry the child out and called to people, “Move farther away from the car, and lay him on the ground first.”

The driver hustled away with the woman and set the injured down after running about a dozen meters.

Ren Chongda and several others in the crowd were working hard to extricate the female driver from the sedan. Therefore, Xie Wanying began to check on the two injured, the adult and the child.

The sound of the fire trucks and police cars arrived first. As the road was blocked by vehicles for a considerable distance, the rescue personnel had to get out and run here with their equipment. Before long, the sound of firefighters using tools to pry the cars’ doors could be heard.

The ambulance had not yet arrived. There was no sound of an ambulance coming. The traffic police were calling the emergency center, “Hello, hello, hello, hasn’t anyone called you yet? Send an ambulance quickly. It’s an accident with several critically injured.”
