Famous Among Top Surgeons in the 90s Chapter 663

Chapter 663: [663] Invited by Senior Cao Chapter 663: [663] Invited by Senior Cao On Monday, Xie Wanying arrived early at the inpatient department to report for her first day in the Hepatobiliary Surgery Department, ready to climb up to the ninth floor. Climbing stairs in the sweltering summer heat was not easy, and it made her sweat. As she climbed, she recognized the silhouette of a person carrying a briefcase ahead of her.

Hearing footsteps from behind, Cao Yong turned around on the steps and saw her, his eyes crinkling into a dashing smile like waves flickering in the air.

“Senior Cao, you’re here so early?” Xie Wanying thought that at this time, the seniors should not have arrived at the hospital yet.

Waiting for her to catch up, Cao Yong looked at the bag in her hand: “What’s that?”

“It’s for Zhao Zhaowei. I heard from Li Qi’an that he’s been feeling suffocated from staying in the hospital, so I brought him a few books to read,” Xie Wanying said.

Zhao Huaming’s grandson had been hospitalized for a week now, and nearly everyone in the hospital knew about it. What Cao Yong hadn’t expected was that there didn’t seem to be any news of the patient getting discharged.

Student Zhao’s condition hasn’t been disclosed to them, his classmates, by the doctor. Senior Tao had respected his commitment to patient confidentiality very well, so Xie Wanying and her classmates couldn’t find any fault with that.

“Have you been to see him?” Cao Yong walked with her–neurosurgery and hepatobiliary surgery, where he worked, were located on the same floor. This was an opportunity to accompany her to check on the patient.

“I want to visit him. But when he was first hospitalized, he was in a bad mood and didn’t want us to see him,” Xie Wanying said. “It’s just that today I’m starting my internship in the Hepatobiliary Surgery Department. So I’m bringing the books over to him.”

“Senior, you knew I was going to Hepatobiliary Surgery?”

How could he not know about her affairs? Cao Yong chuckled tenderly, looking down at the younger sister’s unenlightened naivete, and said, “I mentioned before that you could come over to my place to look for books. Would you like to come and have a meal with Senior Brother Huang and me?”

Oh right, they had agreed to visit Senior Cao’s home to look for books in his library. And she hadn’t returned the books she had borrowed. Xie Wanying remembered this and said, “Senior Cao, I’m still studying those German books you lent me.”

“Do you like the songs on the tapes?”

And the magnetic tapes from Senior Cao came to mind–Xie Wanying replied, “They’re nice.”

“You don’t listen to them often, do you?”

Senior Cao seemed to have become the worm in her head that guessed right every time. Xie Wanying’s face showed a trace of embarrassment: “Senior, I should have returned the tapes to you first. I haven’t had the time to listen to them.”

“No worries, take your time listening. I rarely listen to music myself.”

“Senior, you must be very busy, aren’t you?”

“Not as busy as you are.”

Suddenly, Xie Wanying didn’t know how to continue the conversation. Senior Cao’s words were too artfully put, making her brain struggle to keep up. How had it turned into him being less busy than her, as if she was the one who was always incredibly busy and in demand.

“So, it’s not easy to get you to come over for a visit.”

Hearing Senior’s remark, Xie Wanying immediately answered, “Senior, I can make it this weekend.”

“How about the two of you help me clean up the library, and then I’ll treat you both to a meal? Does that arrangement work for you?” Cao Yong asked her opinion, gentlemanly.

Together, they walked into the Hepatobiliary Surgery Department.

Entering the ward, they heard the nurses at the nursing station chattering excitedly, “The bonuses have been paid. Has the money hit your bank cards yet?”

“I went straight to the bank to check yesterday, and the hospital has transferred it. The bonus this month is pretty substantial.”

Talking about money almost brought tears to their eyes; being rewarded after a hard month’s work brought joy above anything else.

“In our hospital, there are not many departments with higher bonuses than Hepatobiliary Surgery, right?”
