Famous Among Top Surgeons in the 90s Chapter 701

Chapter 701: [(701)] Not a single step can go wrong Chapter 701: [(701)] Not a single step can go wrong Both hurried out of the airport; there was no pickup arranged, so they hopped into a taxi at the airport to head to the hospital where the liver source was located.

On the road, they had to calculate how long the trip would take, to plan for their return to the airport.

Typically situated in the suburbs, airports, if all goes well without traffic jams, are nearly an hour’s drive from the destination hospital. After calculating this time, Qiu Ruiyun’s brow was quickly furrowing into knots.

The time allotted to them was really too tight.

“Dr. Qiu, when we feel it’s about time, I’ll run out first and hail a taxi to wait at the entrance,” Xie Wanying offered a suggestion to her senior.

“That’ll work,” Qiu Ruiyun decisively accepted her suggestion.

At nine o’clock, the surgery to harvest the donor organs commenced. Doctors from several hospitals waiting for organ donations arrived and stood by. Whoever’s turn it was could then enter.

The atmosphere was markedly different from that of other surgeries. The patient in surgery was destined to die, yet their organs might continue life in someone else’s body. Doctors are human too, and none could avoid feeling heavy-hearted and sorrowful at the thought.

As per the prearranged schedule, it was their turn for the liver source around ten o’clock. Qiu Ruiyun, accompanied by Xie Wanying, entered the operating room. The first step was to personally verify whether the donor liver was suitable for their hospital’s patient.

The two approached the operating area to examine the liver. Qiu Ruiyun glanced at it: Ah, this liver is so large? Does the donor have fatty liver?

It seemed as though the operating surgeon heard the question in his mind and said to him, “You need to decide quickly, do you want it or not? If not, we might notify other hospitals.”

“Give me a minute,” Qiu Ruiyun swiftly replied and stepped out of the operating room to call back to his department to confirm the decision.

In the department, He Guangyou was tasked with maintaining constant communication. The moment they called, he picked up the phone and after hearing the report, said, “Fatty liver, we had discussed this situation before, it’s not unexpected.”

“It seems to be more than just minor fatty liver,” Qiu Ruiyun stressed, indicating that what he witnessed with his own eyes differed from the information previously received. He said, “I don’t know what happened, but I estimate the volume of this liver is much larger than the information we originally received.”

“No worries, just bring it back,” He Guangyou responded. “If we don’t take it, someone else will.”

Liver sources are precious, and securing one was the priority; the details could be worked out upon its return. Without a liver source, doctors are like skilled cooks with no rice to cook. With a liver source, even if it’s less than ideal, the doctor uses their ingenuity.

Upon receiving the definitive instruction, Qiu Ruiyun headed back to the operating room and firmly stated, “We’ll take it.”

Understood, the staff began to excise the liver. The organ transplant container was opened.

Upon seeing this, Xie Wanying couldn’t bear to keep watching. She promptly dashed out of the operating room, changed clothes, and sprinted toward the entrance to flag down a taxi.

Fortunately, it was not difficult to hail a taxi at the hospital entrance. The issue, however, was the plethora of people also trying to get a taxi. Xie Wanying avoided the crowd gathered at the entrance, most of whom were weak, sick patients and their accompanying relatives. As a doctor, she didn’t want to compete for a taxi with those in need.

She stood a certain distance away from the entrance.

After about five minutes, a taxi drove by. Xie Wanying hastily waved to stop it, bent down to the driver’s window and said, “Please wait a moment, driver. We have another person coming with something very important, and we need to rush to the airport.”
