I didn’t know if I was comforting the other person or myself.
The mother-in-law and daughter-in-law chatted for a while longer before ending the phone call.
Looking at the time, it was already six twenty.
Sleeping was out of the question; it was better to just get up.
Like the previous few days, I got up, washed up, prepared something to eat, then went downstairs to work.
The streets were empty. After all, people hadn’t returned yet.
Even the families living in the residential building didn’t feel like going out.
Understandable. Everyone was worried.
Four more days passed.
Since the call I received in the operating room a few days ago, there had been no news.
Lu Jing had become numb.
All I did was work, ensuring I never had a moment of idleness.
Tonight was the last night shift; after it, I would have two days off.
Lu Jing had already decided to clean the house during these two days.
Unexpectedly, the next morning, the department was busy with the shift change.
Lu Jing hadn’t even noticed when someone appeared in the hallway until someone else saw it first:

Lu Jing snuggled into the man’s embrace, fingers tightly clutching his clothes, still not at peace.

Lu Jing lifted her head to look deeply at the man before her.
Then she grasped his wrist in turn:
Jiang Ye didn’t ask any questions and cheerfully followed.
We reached the treatment room, and with a ’snap,’ I shut the door.
Lu Jing was looking for medicine in front of the cabinet when suddenly she was fiercely embraced from behind.
All the words I hadn’t managed to say were swallowed up by the man, and I was pinned tightly against the medicine cabinet, forced to endure.
After initially struggling a bit, I allowed him to do as he pleased.
Jiang Ye let out a muffled chuckle, his violent kisses never stopping.
After roughly two minutes, he stepped back a bit, his eyes darkly fixed on me.
Lu Jing’s scalp tingled, her lips flushed red; if someone walked in right now, they would instantly see what had just happened.
"Kissed you already, now to apply the medicine."
"Lift up wherever you’re hurt yourself."
Lu Jing paused while opening the medicine box, looked up:

I saw the man smile with a deep meaning, then, with a ’clatter,’ he began to unbuckle his belt.
