Xavier stood cornered against the wall as Bull and Maximilian entered the bathroom.
"...!" Xavier’s eyes widened in surprise. Maximilian was in a prison outfit, blending in with the other inmates. ’I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn’t notice him!’
Maximilian’s smirk was sharp, his voice dripping with venom. "What’s up, village rat? Miss me?" He stepped forward, his boots clicking against the wet floor. "I’m here to kill you."
"What’s up village rat! Miss me? I am here to kill you!"
’What is he doing here?’ Xavier wondered as he glanced back and forth at Bull and Maximilian.
’Could it be that they are together in this? But.... it doesn’t make sense. Dominic isn’t stupid. There is no way he would want to get me killed in the prison when he already knows what will happen if I don’t get out of here by morning.
Maybe Dominic found out the truth and discovered that I was bluffing? Could it be that this is why he wanted to keep me in the prison for one more night? No... if that was the case, he would have come here himself to confront me. After all, I mocked him a bit too much.
Also, he wouldn’t have given me 10 million either. So there is only one possibility now, and that is Dominic isn’t aware of this and Maximilian is doing this all by himself.’
Maximilian drew his gun, the barrel gleaming under the flickering lights. "I told you that you’re going to die tonight."
’Not good! He even has a gun. I can’t do anything. I am cornered. Even if I was strong and a trained fighter, I wouldn’t have been able to do anything. How am I supposed to fight an opponent who has a gun? Even if I had a weapon with me, I wouldn’t stand a chance against a gun!’
His gaze flicked to the towering figure. ’And there is him. It’s not only 2 vs 1, but also an unfair match. I am unarmed and a perfectly normal human, while Bull is heavily modified by cyberwares in his body. And Maximilian has a gun. Not to mention, his arms and legs bones have been replaced by cyberware too!
But what is this? I am clearly going to die here! I should be scared! I should be terrified! But why?! Why... do I feel so.... Thrilled?! Why can’t I stop myself from feeling excited?!’
Maximilian’s smirk faltered as he saw Xavier grinning despite the gun pointed at him. "What are you grinning for?!" He kicked Xavier, sending him crashing into the wall.
Xavier’s breath left him in a rush, pain flaring through his ribs. But his smirk didn’t waver.
Maximilian’s face twisted. "I was going to shoot you. But now, I’ve changed my mind." His voice was a snarl. "I’ll torture you first. Then shoot you. There is no way I am going to let you have a peaceful death! I am going to kill you and tell Lucas about it! No, wait. Instead of telling, I will show him everything!"
Maximilian took out his phone and turned on the recording. He moved toward Bull, shoving the phone at him. "Hey, grab this! Make sure you capture everything!"
Bull’s gaze was dead, unreadable.
Maximilian’s face darkened. "What are you waiting for, you bastard? Take the phone and record it, or I’ll—"
Before he could finish, Bull’s hand lashed out, slapping Maximilian with a force that sent him flying against the wall. He crumpled to the ground.
He had fallen unconscious just from one slap.
’What?’ Xavier’s breath caught. ’Were they not together in this?’
Bull then turned to Xavier and took a step closer.
Xavier raised a brow and thought, ’It’s good that I am safe from Maximilian, but... how am I going to fight Bull? If someone like Maximilian can pass out from just one slap, then what will—’
Suddenly, Bull dropped to his knees, bowing his head. "My Lord."
Xavier’s mind blanked.
’What...?’
"It is an honor to have finally been able to meet you." Bull said with the utmost respect in his voice.
"Umm... I don’t understand. What’s going on?" Xavier asked with a confused look on his face.
"It is fine. I will tell you everything." He raised his head. "My name is Bull. My real name is Bill Stan. My parents were low ranked space mercenaries who did odd jobs to make a living. We lived on a small planet named Enope located in the galaxy named Ursa Major III, a neighboring galaxy which is about 300,000 light years away from the milky way galaxy. I don’t know my origin, but we were most likely from earth.
When I was 12 years old, the village I lived in was attacked by space pirates and everyone was killed, including my parents. The space pirates kidnapped all the kids and threw them into a mining planet. They taught us everything we needed to know about mining ores, and they would come each month to gather the ores.
Whenever the amount was low, they would beat us and throw a few of the kids into the bottomless pit of an abandoned mining area where there was said to be a space beast’s lair. One month, I was one of those unfortunate kids and I was thrown into that pit.
It was truly a bottomless pit. It felt like I was falling for hours. I was scared. Even though I couldn’t see anything, I kept my eyes closed because I knew I was going to hit the ground eventually and die. But I didn’t. My fall was cushioned by the other kids who were thrown with and before me. I fell into their long pile of rotting corpses.
Long story short, I was near death’s door there and I cursed everyone with all I had left. I wished I had power. Then suddenly, I heard a voice in my head that said it would grant me what I wished for. Of course, I thought I had gone insane and I was hearing things because I was about to die.
Then, something under my hand glowed brightly that blinded me. It was a rock, and it introduced itself as a goddess called Astrea."
