Dreams?
Two little kids, can they fully understand what dreams are?
Mi Jing was very curious when she heard this, and asked, "What are your dreams?"
"I’ll go first." Cancan raised her right hand high and said excitedly.
"Okay, you go first." Mi Jing sat by the bed, a bright smile on her pretty face.
"When I grow up, I want to be a foodie, so I can eat lots and lots of delicious foods."
Sure enough, she can’t stay away from eating! Truly a bona fide foodie.
Mi Jing’s gaze fell on Cancan’s seemingly glowing smiling face, and the smile lines on her own face deepened involuntarily.
"What about Xuanxuan?" Mi Jing looked sideways at the relatively quiet Xuanxuan and asked.
"I want to learn dancing so when I grow up, I can perform in many different places, and lots of people will applaud for me." Xuanxuan smiled, seeming to have endless dreams for the future, hoping to grow up immediately.
Childhood dreams are always pure and innocent, with many thoughts and wishes constantly changing on the path to growing up. Some people persist and work consistently towards their initial dreams, while others gradually change their minds and have other dreams. In any case, future changes are unpredictable and unknown to them.
Shen Lingxing patiently waited outside the door, listening to Mi Jing’s conversation with the children and watching her happy expression. His dark eyes were filled with love, and he smiled silently.
After chatting with the children, Mi Jing turned around and saw Shen Lingxing. She clearly saw the blazing light in his eyes and the smile at the corner of his mouth, which filled her heart with a surge of happiness and sweetness that spread quickly.
Like or love, it’s really something that can be felt with just a look or an expression.
"Why haven’t you gone upstairs yet?" Mi Jing closed the door, her eyes looking at Shen Lingxing with a glimmer.
"I’m waiting for you." Shen Lingxing said unhurriedly.
Just three words, but they easily struck a chord in Mi Jing’s heart. She walked to Shen Lingxing’s side, took his arm proactively, and said softly, "Then let’s go up."
The two of them walked up the stairs hand in hand, their steps in unison. With their beloved right next to them, each step taken up the staircase was filled with joy.
Tonight, with his wife in his arms, Shen Lingxing finally didn’t suffer from insomnia. However, in the middle of the night, Mi Jing had a high fever, which still kept him from sleeping peacefully.
Mi Jing usually slept quietly, but tonight, she was especially clingy, tightly hugging him and burrowing into his arms, which forcibly woke Shen Lingxing up.
"Cold."
Upon waking, Shen Lingxing heard Mi Jing mumble vaguely. Since he had just woken up, his hearing wasn’t as sharp as when he was awake, so he didn’t hear her clearly.
"Baby, what did you say?" Worried about scaring Mi Jing, Shen Lingxing asked softly under the dim light of the nightstand lamp.
"..."
Mi Jing was evidently not awake, still in her dream. She didn’t answer Shen Lingxing’s question but clung tightly to him, burying her face in his chest.
Shen Lingxing gently enveloped Mi Jing with his arms, even through the clothes, he could feel her burning breath.
As a doctor, he was naturally more sensitive to any abnormal reactions of the body, so the elevated temperature alerted Shen Lingxing.
He slightly pushed Mi Jing away and placed his large hand on her forehead, feeling a burning heat immediately.

Shen Lingxing quickly got up and turned on the ceiling light. When he turned around and looked, he found that Mi Jing’s cheeks were faintly flushed.
After tucking her under the quilt, Shen Lingxing went downstairs to fetch the medical kit, finding medical cotton and alcohol to gently wipe Mi Jing’s body.
Mi Jing remained asleep, occasionally murmuring "cold" as if in a dream. Shen Lingxing stayed by her side most of the night, helping to apply a cold compress and change her sweat-soaked clothes. Only when her fever fully subsided did he relax slightly and lay down to sleep.
The next day, Cancan and Xuanxuan still dressed themselves, brushed their teeth, and washed their faces. Unlike last night’s excitement, they quietly emerged from the guest room.
"Huh, why hasn’t Uncle Gu gotten up to make breakfast today?" said the ever-hungry Gu Can, who was the first one to think about food, heading straight for the kitchen but not finding Shen Lingxing there.
"Maybe he’s too tired and slept in," Xuanxuan followed behind Cancan, responding to her question with this guess.
"Hmm, I think so too. Mommy said that Uncle Gu works very hard." Cancan agreed and understood.
"Then how about we make breakfast for Uncle Gu and Aunt Mi?" Xuanxuan suddenly had a bold idea, looking at Cancan with excitement.
"Make breakfast ourselves? But... but..." Cancan’s eyes widened in surprise and a bit of distress. Eating was definitely no problem for her, but making breakfast herself, she wasn’t so sure.
"Don’t worry, I often watch my grandpa and mommy cook. Making breakfast shouldn’t be hard for me." Compared to Cancan’s hesitation, Xuanxuan was much more confident, even straightening her back and her eyes shining with assurance as she spoke.
"Okay, I will help you." Seeing Xuanxuan’s full confidence, Cancan was instantly filled with confidence too. Although she couldn’t cook breakfast, she was sure she could handle simple tasks like washing vegetables and dishes just fine.
The two kids, once they decided to do it, did it methodically and without any confusion.
"Xuanxuan, what breakfast are we going to make?" Cancan walked beside Xuanxuan, like a little follower, curiously asking.
"Um..." Xuanxuan didn’t have a clear idea either. After thinking about it seriously, she said, "Let’s open the fridge first and see what we have, then make breakfast from that."
Make breakfast from whatever they had?
That sounded pretty impressive!
Cancan’s eyes were immediately filled with admiration, and she gave Xuanxuan a thumbs up, exclaiming, "Wow! Xuanxuan, you’re amazing!" She was practically her idol.
The breakfast wasn’t even made yet!
How was she amazing?
Faced with Cancan’s praise, Xuanxuan felt a bit shy and somewhat apprehensive. She thought to herself, if she didn’t do well, Cancan would surely be very disappointed in her, right?
Thinking thus, Xuanxuan became even more determined to make a delicious breakfast!
"I’ll get you a small stool." Cancan, who already liked playing with Xuanxuan, liked her even more now. Glancing at the fridge which was much taller than them, she said while running out, "I’ll be right back."
