Bai Xiaoxiao barely managed to pull a cell phone from the pocket of one sleeping man. The man ‘hmm’ed, rolled over, and went back to sleep.
She took a secret breath, her heart halted in fear, calming her pain. The effort it took for her to move towards the door was overwhelming.
The house was tiny. The walk from the bed to the door, just a few steps, would be an easy task for someone healthy. However, her legs had not fully recovered and her current state could just about keep her standing. Even the smallest stride, or the slightest effort, would inflict unbearable pain.
She reached the wall and with support from one hand, used the other to dial Luo Haofeng’s number. She didn’t call her parents because it was too late at night, and she didn’t want to worry them.
Aside from her parents, the number she knew best was Luo Haofeng’s.
He is Mo Xiuchen’s friend and seeing Xiao Wenqing─the one who called and threatened to exchange Wen Ran for her─Luo Haofeng would surely be concerned.
The phone connected, the beeping causing her heart to halt again.
After a few rings and just when she had managed to reach the door with the support of the wall, Luo Haofeng’s voice came through from the other side of the line, “Hello!”
At his voice, Bai Xiaoxiao’s heart jumped, her mind in chaos. Despite her circumstances, she managed to lower her voice and urgently speak, “Luo Haofeng, it’s me.”
“Xiaoxiao? Where are you?”
From the other end of the line, Luo Haofeng hurriedly sat up, instantly snapping out of his sleep from the sound of her voice. He bit his lip and got out of bed.
Bai Xiaoxiao felt both excitement and fear. Looking at the two men asleep on the bed, she uttered tremblingly, “I don’t know where I am. They drove for more than two hours and I’ve been blindfolded the entire time.”
“Xiaoxiao, listen to me, are you safe right now? Whose phone are you using to call?”
Bai Xiaoxiao instinctively shook her head, then realised that Luo Haofeng couldn’t see her shake her head. As she went to open the door, which was shabby and made of wood, it made a sound.
The men had made the same noise when they entered the room.
Despite her caution, she still woke up the sleeping man on the bed. Just as she was about to step out the door, a scolding voice came from behind, “How dare you run away?”
Bai Xiaoxiao went pale in fright, looking hastily towards the bed.
Seeing one of them sitting up, her heart sank. She was about to speak when Luo Haofeng’s voice hurriedly came through the line, “Xiaoxiao!”
“You dare to use my phone.”
The man rushed over, snatched the cell phone from Bai Xiaoxiao’s hand at the door, intending to hang up. But then he heard a man’s voice, “The person you want is Wen Ran. Don’t you dare hurt Xiaoxiao.”
“If you don’t want Bai Xiaoxiao to have an ugly death, hurry up and tell Wen Ran to come and exchange.” He glared viciously at Bai Xiaoxiao and hung up the phone.
Bai Xiaoxiao was held by him, struggling in fury. The fact that she couldn’t even escape the house after so long and so much effort just proved to her that she was useless.
“You better be obedient. If it weren’t for using you in exchange for Wen Ran, I would take you right now.” He scanned over Bai Xiaoxiao’s chest, her anger making her chest rise and fall seductively.
With such a beauty in his grasp, he wanted to vent his frustration every minute.
Bai Xiaoxiao wanted to curse, but considering her situation, she begrudgingly held back.
The other man on the bed woke up as well. She knew there was no escape, and allowed them to pull her back to the chair and tie her up again.
On the other end of the line, Luo Haofeng was still staring at the screen of his cell phone, his heart constricted as if by an invisible hand. His breath was uneven.
Listening to Bai Xiaoxiao’s voice filled with fear and terror over and over again, his beautiful facial contours were covered in frost. The force with which he was gripping the cell phone growing stronger and stronger…
After a while, he took a deep breath, trying to suppress the turmoil in his chest, and checked the time – 3 am.
He bit his lip and dialed Gu Kai’s number.
On a night , sleep was not an option.
Though Gu Kai had already gone to bed, he was in a light sleep. As soon as the telephone rang, he woke up.
“Ah Kai, Bai Xiaoxiao just called me.”
As Luo Haofeng spoke, he strode toward the door. From the other end of the line, Gu Kai asked in surprise and concern, “Where is Bai Xiaoxiao?”
“I don’t know. She only said a few words before someone took her phone away. I speculate that she made the call while the people watching her were asleep, but she didn’t know where she was either. She said that they had driven for more than two hours.”
“More than two hours? Ah Jin said that they should still be in G City. If they drove for more than two hours, they should be heading north. Can we find some useful information from that number?”
Gu Kai’s words reminded Luo Haofeng that his anxiety after receiving the call from Bai Xiaoxiao caused him to forget this point.
“It’s a cell phone number, not sure if we can find any useful information.”

Luo Haofeng drove to Gu Kai’s house. The cold night wind poured in through the half-open car window, cutting his face like a knife. His chaotic mind gradually cooled in this chilly breeze.
By the time he reached Gu Kai’s house, it was half-past three in the morning.
Gu Kai was waiting for him at the door. As soon as he opened the door, he explained, “I have checked. This number is not from our city. The owner is called Zhang Ergou.”
As Luo Haofeng followed Gu Kai into the villa, he asked in a low voice, “Can we find detailed information and an address?”
