Shirley Grant leaned back in her seat with a smile, leisurely lifting a small mirror to check her reflection.
"Wasn’t I clear enough? Didn’t you act in the same way, with your gratuitous flattery? And what came of it in the end?"
Not many people in the whole Office Room knew about those embarrassing incidents, but she, Shirley Grant, knew every detail. Didn’t this Nia Mitchell now remind her of the Phoebe Walker from years ago? Thinking she had the world at her fingertips, just because she was carrying a cup of coffee. Little did she know, behavior like that would only alienate people further.
Phoebe Walker looked as if someone had stepped on her tail.
"Shirley Grant, you make it sound as if you’re so upright and aboveboard. Do you think no one will find out if you just suppress your own skeletons?"
Phoebe Walker sneered. Is she trying to hold something over me? Hmph! She, Phoebe Walker, had family background and looks; the foolish things she did in the past were, at most, a laughingstock. But Shirley Grant? Hers weren’t just laughing matters.
Shirley Grant clenched her fists in fury, a vein throbbing on her forehead, and her eyes burning with anger. She wished she could tear Phoebe Walker to pieces. But she could only restrain herself; it was the only way to protect herself. Thus, she forced a smile onto her face.
"Secretary Walker, as outspoken as ever. Not afraid to say anything, are you? I was merely reminiscing. After all, that rookie took quite a hit yesterday."
Who among the junior secretaries in the Secretary Department would dare to make a sound amidst the squabble between the two team leaders? Everyone lowered their heads, feigning that it was none of_ their business.
But upon hearing Shirley Grant’s last sentence, they all simultaneously shifted their gazes to Nia Mitchell.
That’s right, they clearly remembered Nia Mitchell fearlessly bringing coffee in yesterday morning. The result... She came out with red eyes. Who knew what horrors had transpired inside the CEO’s Office? Perhaps Nia Mitchell had been scolded to tears by the CEO. But this Nia Mitchell was truly persistent; she actually dared to make coffee and go in again! Although, her coffee did smell a little more fragrant...
"Secretary Walker, this is the coffee Mr. Peary specifically requested. I can’t delay any longer."
With that said, Nia Mitchell, carrying the coffee, moved away from the contentious area.
When she reached the door to Maxwell Peary’s office, she pushed it open and went in without even knocking.
Phew, that was close, she thought. A place with many women truly is rife with drama.
"What’s wrong? Is a dog chasing you?"
Maxwell Peary put down his pen and curiously sized up Nia Mitchell.
How is it that after just a few minutes, she looks like she just escaped from a battlefield?
Nia Mitchell took a deep breath and patted her chest to calm herself.
Nia Mitchell walked over and placed the coffee on his desk. She had practically braved a hail of bullets to get here, hadn’t she?
Maxwell Peary nodded, picked up the pen from his desk, and continued with the document he hadn’t finished.

Just as she was about to leave, Nia Mitchell suddenly stopped.
She twitched her small nose, her lips pouted, and her brows furrowed.
Hmm, why is there a smell of smoke in the Office Room? She had never seen the CEO smoke before.
Maxwell Peary looked up. What now? Wasn’t Rabina Mitchell planning to make a quick escape today? He had already written two more lines, and she was still here.
