Nia Mitchell bit her lip. "Accept her money and leave you?"
She was somewhat skeptical about what Maxwell Peary had said. What did he really think about this? Could one just walk away if the money was abundant enough?
Belinda Swan stood aside, feeling somewhat uneasy as she watched Nia Mitchell call Maxwell Peary.
So what if she played innocent and complained in a gentle and virtuous manner? Young Master Peary simply didn’t care at all, did he?
After hearing Nia Mitchell’s rhetorical question, Belinda Swan became even more haughty. Standing there, her gaze filled with disdain, she felt as if Nia Mitchell’s very presence contaminated the air.

With a deft turn of the steering wheel after a wide curve, Maxwell Peary pulled into Royal Bay Villa.
"Mr. Peary is a businessman, and Mrs. Peary should also be astute. When someone offers you some spending money, of course, you should accept it."
Decelerating, Peary glanced at the rearview mirror. With a swift drift, the Rolls-Royce settled accurately into the parking space.

Nia Mitchell chuckled. So Uncle Peary was that unscrupulous? Taking money but not delivering? Wasn’t he just a two-faced liar?
"Uncle Peary, you’re a businessman. How can you be so untrustworthy?"
Maxwell Peary protested, "How unfair! Mr. Peary’s character is impeccable, but one must use different methods for different people. Wouldn’t you agree, Mrs. Peary?"
A smile played on Nia Mitchell’s lips, her eyes soft with affection.
"I couldn’t agree more."
Finished with her call, Nia Mitchell ignored Maxwell Peary on the other end and spoke sharply to Belinda Swan.
"Maxwell said all his money is mine. If you can offer an even higher price, you’re welcome to try and use money to settle this."
Maxwell Peary’s hand, reaching into his pocket for his keys, paused. He had intended to go straight in, but hearing Nia Mitchell’s spirited voice over the phone, he suddenly changed his mind.
Leaning against the doorframe, he listened to the sounds from inside through his phone.
"Nia Mitchell, did you think I wouldn’t see through your little trick? Who knows who you actually called. Hmph, so what happened at the engagement ceremony of the Hampton Group’s heir last night was true. You really are a fickle and shameless woman!"
Overnight, everyone in high society knew about the fiasco at the engagement ceremony of the Hampton Group’s heir. Some disreputable woman had not only caused a scene but had also offended Young Master Peary. Now, the Hampton Family was holding onto their last breath, begging Young Master Peary to calm his anger and let them off the hook.
The juiciest piece of gossip was that this woman had actually managed to get involved with Young Master Peary.
Such an infamous person, once fallen, had no chance of turning things around.
"You think this call wasn’t to Maxwell Peary?"
Nia Mitchell looked at Belinda Swan in surprise. Had Belinda Swan lost her mind to come up with such an outrageous idea?
"Of course. In this world, no one would dare say such ridiculous things in front of Maxwell."
To say such a thing would be a joke.
Nia Mitchell raised an eyebrow, tapped the speakerphone button with her right hand, and then said with a grin, "Uncle Peary, she’s starting to doubt that I’m actually talking to you. Quick, make a sound so she knows, otherwise I’ll be taken for a lunatic."
