Just as her hand touched the doorknob, the bedroom door was suddenly pulled open from inside, which gave Ye Yuning quite a scare.
"You, why are you in my room?"
"I left something in the cabinet; I just came to get it," Xiao Linye said without a change in expression.
But Ye Yuning was doubtful. Is that really the case? Yet, seeing the man’s serious face, she didn’t feel right to question him further.
While she was lost in thought, Xiao Linye had already squeezed past her out of the room and headed directly back to the master bedroom.
Ye Yuning didn’t feel it was appropriate to ask, but an inexplicable feeling arose within her. Though, he did live here alone before. It’s normal for him to have left some things in this room. Thinking this way, that inexplicable feeling dissipated.
Having finally relaxed these past few days, she wanted to rest well. She went directly to the bathroom to brush her teeth; she had the habit of brushing her teeth after every meal.
But when she went to squeeze the toothpaste, she found that her toothbrush was missing again.
"Where’s my toothbrush?" Ye Yuning mumbled.
Bending down, she checked the empty space under the washbasin; nothing was there.
Just like last time, she searched the entire bathroom and found nothing!
Ye Yuning scratched her head. "TSK! Why does my toothbrush keep disappearing?"
She might be careless by nature, but when she lived at Xiangti, she wasn’t so absent-minded as to lose track of a toothbrush.
It was just a toothbrush; she didn’t want to dwell on it and turned to get a new one.
However, upon opening the package, there were no new ones left inside!
Feeling perplexed, Ye Yuning left her room, only to see Xiao Linye, who had supposedly gone back to the master bedroom, now coming out of the study.
Seeing her, Xiao Linye raised an eyebrow. "What’s wrong?"
"My... my toothbrush is missing again. Do you have any new ones?" Ye Yuning asked.
Hearing her mention the missing toothbrush again, Xiao Linye’s heart sank.
Yet, his expression remained unchanged.
"Yes, I’ll get one for you right away," he replied softly.
Xiao Linye turned and fetched a toothbrush for her from the supply cabinet.
Since no woman had lived here before, the toothbrushes were all men’s, with heads larger than what Ye Yuning was used to.
Ye Yuning looked at it in her hand.
Before she could speak, Xiao Linye said first, "Is the size a bit large? I’ll buy you some smaller ones at the supermarket tomorrow."
The size... a bit large! No matter how I hear it, that sounds awkward. Thinking of certain blush-inducing comics she had seen before, Ye Yuning’s small face couldn’t help but redden.
She stood stiffly, toothbrush in hand, and turned to leave.
She didn’t forget to murmur, "The housekeeper you hired might be a bit careless. My toothbrush keeps getting lost."

Seeing her complaining, he said soothingly, "The housekeeper probably thought it was time for you to change it."
"How could that be? I just replaced it a few days ago," Ye Yuning grumbled.
But it was just a toothbrush; she wasn’t one to fuss over such things. Still, for my toothbrush to keep disappearing ... it feels a bit strange...
What she didn’t know was that the moment she entered her room, Xiao Linye’s tense expression completely relaxed.
The next day, when Ye Yuning went to the company, she didn’t encounter Xiao Shuo, but in the elevator, she met Ye Tong.
Ye Tong looked at her, still as haughty as ever.

With a DING, the elevator doors opened. A mocking smile played on Ye Yuning’s lips as she strode haughtily out of the elevator.
