Flirted Wrong, Married Right Chapter 235

But she didn’t dare to imagine, if it were true, what kind of change it would bring to her, and to James Grant’s life.

James Grant said nothing, looking away and pulling the blanket over her with his distinct, bony fingers.

His fingertips trembled, yet the veins on the back of his hand bulged.

Then, he got up to leave the hospital room, pausing for a moment at the door, with his back to her.

His straight back seemed unexpectedly desolate.

"Evelyn Clayton, no matter the outcome, you won’t be able to leave."

His voice was low and hoarse. After speaking, James Grant walked out of the hospital room without looking back.

Only Evelyn Clayton was left alone.

The cold, ticking sound of the machinery echoed in her ears, mixed with a trace of his barely concealed fear.

"Quickly, quickly! Harrison Grant from The Grant Group is here."

The police who had been investigating Evelyn Clayton’s car accident case suddenly broke out in a cold sweat upon hearing that James Grant had arrived.

The last time he came, it was to save someone, and that crazy side of him had already been deeply ingrained in their minds.

Since then, mentioning his name would automatically conjure an image of a bloodstained, terrifying face.

At the entrance of the archives room, a chillingly cold voice echoed, sending a jolt through everyone present.

The man before them exuded a powerful aura, with an intense sense of oppression.

His stern face was somewhat unnaturally pale, with a faintly ominous and indifferent aura surging around him.

A perceptive officer handed over a laptop: "We’ve already reviewed the video. That van seemed premeditated, parking there well before Miss Clayton entered the garage. It only rushed out when Miss Clayton appeared, hitting her and immediately driving off."

James Grant’s eyes, dark and full of menace, fixed on the playing video, and witnessing that frail body being struck by the van, with blood seeping out, stung his eyes.

"It’s our duty. Once we find the culprit, we will contact you at the first opportunity." This update is available on novel⟡fire.net

James Grant’s lips pressed into a thin line, silent and soundless, saving the video.

Then, he left the archives room without a backward glance.

He returned to the hospital with the video.

The door was gently pushed open, and James Grant stepped inside.

Upon his first glance, he froze momentarily.

The person on the bed, leaning against the hospital bed, had a dazed expression, eyes hollow, staring out the window.

She watched as the last dull yellow leaf fell from the tree outside.

Evelyn Clayton looked much more haggard, the pallor on her face was sickly.

A suffocating aura hung densely around her.

His deep, dark eyes looked at her, and in a hoarse voice, he called out.

The person on the bed reacted, looking over at him, eyes slightly unsettled.

"Did you find anything?"

Evelyn asked as she saw him return so soon.

Yet he wore a gloomy expression, his eyes complex as he looked at her.

She frowned: "What’s wrong."

Could it really be as she had feared?

"Nothing, I found the surveillance."

James Grant approached, bringing out the saved video on his phone, handing it over for her to see.

Evelyn Clayton watched it carefully, matching exactly with her memories.

With the video now, it directly proved that the van had indeed targeted her.

If no one had shown up, perhaps, she really would have died there.

"What are you thinking?"

Seeing her remain motionless, James Grant furrowed his brows, thin lips parting slightly as he asked softly.

Evelyn Clayton let out a quiet breath, lowering her eyelids a bit: "Nothing."

"Who do you suspect?"

He had seen through her thoughts, his gaze sharp and somber, piercing through her evasion with precision.

Evelyn Clayton pressed her lips together, swallowing down a breath.

She looked at James Grant’s face, unsure whether to speak or to remain silent.

After hesitating for a long time, she took a deep breath and uttered a name.
