She subtly pushed James Grant away, distancing herself from his embrace, and said calmly, "I don’t want to see anyone else today, and there’s nothing wrong with my health."
James Grant frowned slightly, "Why are you always so resistant? You look quite unwell and need a check-up."
"I said, I just don’t want to see strangers!" Evelyn’s tone hardened, with a hint of impatience in her eyes that shot straight at James.

Suddenly recalling what Owen Sherman said last night, James’s tightly furrowed brows relaxed a bit.
He gently stroked Evelyn’s back in a comforting way and softly said, "If you don’t want to meet anyone, then don’t. When you feel better, I’ll arrange for someone."
They got up and, after washing up, Aunt Liu brought up breakfast.
While eating, James personally served porridge to Evelyn and said softly, "I might be a bit busy these days and may not be able to come back to accompany you in time; I’ll have Owen Sherman stay here for a few days, so you can reach out to her if you need anything."
After finishing the meal, James called Quentin Hale.
In the living room on the first floor, Quentin brought a brand-new phone.
"The SIM card is the one you used before; you can contact anyone you wish." James handed the phone to Evelyn.
Evelyn looked at the new phone and chuckled lightly, "So, has this one been installed with eavesdropping and tracking systems?"
James replied as casually as discussing the weather, "Yes. No matter whom you contact, what you say, or what messages you send, I can see it all."
"You’re quite candid." Evelyn replied indifferently, "In that case, this phone doesn’t seem all that necessary."
James’s eyes darkened a few shades.
"This is the maximum freedom I can give you," James suppressed the gloomy expression trying to surface, "After all, I still can’t completely trust you."
He leaned in slightly and left a kiss on Evelyn’s cheek, "You’re always very cunning. If you ran away, who would I reason with? Rest assured, as long as you don’t reveal your location or try to reach out for help, you can say whatever you want to your friends and family."
Evelyn looked up at him quietly, her eyes devoid of any emotion, seemingly only left with calmness.
"I’m heading to the office, I’ll be back late tonight," James smiled slightly, cupping Evelyn’s face with his hand playfully, "Wait for me."
Watching James’s silhouette leave the villa, the nausea and discomfort swelling from the depths of Evelyn’s soul finally erupted.
She turned and ran upstairs without a word, rushing to the bathroom, where she began to retch uncontrollably.
In just a few days here, Evelyn had learned to suppress the sound of her vomiting.
But the sensation of nausea was relentless; she felt as if her bile would follow through, her throat turning sour, and her mouth full of a nauseating, sticky taste.
Evelyn rinsed her mouth and washed her face, straightened after some time, looking at her own disheveled red-eyed reflection in the mirror, and a dazed smile appeared.
That smile seemed to mock herself, and perhaps others too.
She couldn’t tell how long had passed when the new phone she had just received began to ring.
Evelyn glanced at it, her expression slightly changing.
It was Pauline Warren calling.
She steadied her breathing, then answered the call with a light laugh, her tone revealing nothing amiss.
After exchanging greetings, Evelyn warmly asked, "What brings you to call me?"
