Flirted Wrong, Married Right Chapter 669

Yara Reagan’s eyes slightly froze.

"What kind of opportunity?" Yara lowered her eyes, hiding the complex emotions deep within them. "How do you define an opportunity?"

Iris Lockwood choked on her words, taking a moment before saying, "I mean, he has turned down so many blind dates over the years, no matter what Violet says he won’t see other women, don’t you—"

"What does that have to do with me?"

Yara’s tone was somewhat sharp, and when she raised her eyes, there was something capturing in them.

Iris closed her mouth and looked at her helplessly.

Yara pressed her lips together and softly said, "Sorry, I didn’t mean anything by it..."

"I know." Iris suppressed a sigh, "Forget it, let’s not talk about this. Violet and the others are coming over tonight, I’ll start cooking."

Yara didn’t say anything more, her gaze quietly shifting to the side.

In the years without Evelyn Clayton, she managed the vast Gem on her own, not only staying busy but also undergoing significant changes in her character.

The heartfelt conversation she had with Franklin Ford many years ago became almost their last face-to-face discussion.

Since then, she never met nor spoke with Franklin alone again.

As if everything had passed.

But Yara knew they were all just putting on a facade of peace.

Now she is a rising female CEO in the industry; even Violet behaves much more courteously when speaking with her, yet Yara knows Violet still looks down on her.

Although Yara doesn’t care if Violet can accept her, she certainly doesn’t like forcing herself to get humiliated.

This way, it turned out to be the best outcome.

She and the Ford Family coexist without conflicts, occasionally discussing collaborations, and it’s good this way.

Violet and Franklin arrived first; Violet brought two bottles of wine, and the aroma upon entering brought a smile as she praised Iris’s culinary skills.

"What’s for dinner today?"

Violet set down the wine and went to the kitchen to help Iris, leaving only Yara and Franklin in the living room.

Both remained silent, and Yara inevitably felt awkward, so she busied herself by opening the wine at the counter and pouring it into the decanter.

Franklin didn’t make a sound, but his gaze was always following Yara.

Yara pretended not to notice, and once the wine was ready, she planned to head to the kitchen. This text is hosted at novel•fire.net

However, just as she turned around, she heard Franklin speak from behind.

"How have you been lately?"

Franklin’s voice was very calm, without any inflection. Yara turned around and met Franklin’s eyes.

The usually clear and gentle eyes had a fleeting shade, prompting Yara to instinctively lower her eyelids.

"Pretty good." Yara suppressed a quickening pulse in her heart.

She had no intention of engaging in more conversation, trying hard to project an indifferent attitude, hoping Franklin would back off.

There was really no need for pleasantries between them.

However, Franklin seemed determined to carry on the conversation, "Are you leaving in a couple of days, going on vacation with Iris?"

Yara pressed her lips together and gave a nonchalant "Mm," her attitude bordering on coldness.

Franklin persisted, "When will you return?"

Yara’s patience reached its limit.

"Whenever I returned in previous years, that’s when I’ll return." Yara raised her eyes, showing a cold expression, "Don’t you think, Director Ford, that question is somewhat redundant?"

Franklin seemed taken aback, lowered his eyelids, and didn’t respond further.

Seeing him , Yara felt a bit uneasy in her heart.

It seemed as though she was the bad person here...

Fortunately, soon enough, there was a knock on the door.

Yara felt relieved and went to open the door.

However, upon seeing who it was, Yara’s face instantly darkened.

"James Grant, what are you doing here?"
