Flirted Wrong, Married Right Chapter 678

Evelyn Clayton paused for three seconds and laughed, "Why do you ask?"

A shadow flickered in Shane Sinclair’s eyes.

Evelyn Clayton’s lack of an immediate answer was enough to reveal the truth.

But Shane Sinclair wasn’t willing to give up.

He still vividly remembered what Evelyn Clayton was like when she was brought back to the Sinclair family back then.

At the time, he had no feelings for Evelyn and found the sight to be shocking.

Every time Shane Sinclair thought of it, he felt a chill of fear.

He couldn’t believe that, after being harmed to such an extent by James Grant, Evelyn would go back to him.

"I’m just afraid, afraid he’ll hurt you again." Shane Sinclair’s eyes didn’t cease their probing, "Can you really forgive him?"

Evelyn detected Shane Sinclair’s probing, but didn’t expose it. She simply said lightly, "Forgive what? He never did anything wrong, so why should I forgive?"

Shane Sinclair frowned slightly, "Why do you say that?"

If it weren’t for James Grant’s imprisonment back then, Evelyn wouldn’t have lost a child due to that accident—

Yes, at the time, Evelyn was actually pregnant with twins.

Sharon survived, and even the doctor called it a miracle.

"James Grant kept me there back then because, in essence, he wanted me by his side. He didn’t want me to continue investigating the truth about my father’s death, fearing that if I knew the truth, I would hate Harrison Grant, and thus hate him; he refused to believe Harrison Grant was the murderer and couldn’t answer my questions because Harrison Grant is his father."

"Although Harrison Grant kept a mistress outside, indirectly causing his mother’s death, the one who died and got hurt was not James Grant, so naturally he didn’t feel much pain."

Evelyn said with a light laugh, "He just wasn’t the one hurt, so he can afford to be generously indifferent. He did nothing wrong, so there’s nothing for me to forgive or not forgive."

Shane Sinclair gradually understood Evelyn’s point of view.

James Grant did nothing wrong, so she had no need to forgive.

It’s best for the two of them to remain strangers.

But Shane Sinclair still felt uneasy, "But you shouldn’t see him again and give him hope."

Seeing the disapproval on Shane Sinclair’s face, Evelyn curled her lips slightly, with a touch of helplessness and mockery, though it was unclear for whom it was intended.

"If I don’t see him, he will find ways to force me to. Just like I said back then, one day, James Grant will find out I’m still alive—or rather, all along, he stubbornly refused to believe I was dead."

"Instead of avoiding him forever, it’s better to let him give up on his own."

As she spoke, Evelyn’s demeanor brightened a bit, revealing a rare touch of slyness.

She looked at Shane Sinclair with a smile, "Brother, do you know the best way to make him give up?"

Shane Sinclair was a bit bewildered, "What is it?" ɪꜰ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡᴀɴᴛ ᴛᴏ ʀᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴏʀᴇ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs, ᴘʟᴇᴀsᴇ ᴠɪsɪᴛ Nove1Fire.net

"Let him know I’ve completely stopped loving him, let him know I’ve fallen in love and had children with someone else. Moreover, the other person is a man he cannot manipulate or control." Evelyn smiled as she spoke, "Brother, can you think of a way to find me such a person?"

Shane Sinclair’s heart skipped a few beats, a tension he couldn’t describe.

He feigned seriousness, putting on a stern face as he said, "How could that work? It would be bad for your reputation if it got out."

Evelyn couldn’t help but laugh, "What’s wrong with it? In the eyes of the outside world, I’m always a mostly invisible person; not many people know about it."

Even as Evelyn worked under the name Shannon Sinclair as the director of The Apex Group’s design department in the Sinclair family, not many people knew she was the Sinclair family’s adopted daughter; they merely thought it was a coincidence of the same surname.

"Brother, you have to help me with this, otherwise James Grant won’t be easy to deal with."
