During their walk, neither he nor Evelyn spoke, and the atmosphere was so awkward that even someone as outgoing as Keith felt uncomfortable.

Evelyn ordered coffee, leisurely looking at Keith.

Keith felt as if he had been seen through.
He cleared his throat, "Not at all. We used to be friends, so there’s no reason for me to confront you... I just felt I should come and see you. And also to let you know, James is currently in the hospital, still unconscious."
After speaking, Keith was almost impatient to observe Evelyn’s expression.
Yet he was somewhat disappointed.
