By the time Evelyn Clayton returned to the Sinclair Family home, it was almost midnight.

Evelyn realized her question was somewhat redundant and even slightly ambiguous.
Just as she was about to take Shane’s cue to bid farewell and leave, Shane suddenly said, "I’ve thought it over about what you mentioned earlier, wanting to leave the jewelry department to help set up the fashion design team."
Evelyn hadn’t expected Shane to bring this up, and she became genuinely interested.
