In the stands of Stamford Bridge, Chelsea fans were eager to capture Su Luo's full attention. But at this moment, a tense silence fell over the crowd.
All the pressure was now on Petr Cech.
As Chelsea's longest-serving goalkeeper and a hero during the club's rise to prominence, Cech had a deep emotional connection to Stamford Bridge. Today, returning as Arsenal's keeper, his feelings were conflicted.
But right now, none of that mattered. Cech had only one focus: stopping Su Luo's penalty shot.
A few seconds passed.
Su Luo prepared to take the shot, his confidence unshaken. He carefully placed the ball on the spot, then stepped back to ready himself.
Then, he burst forward, swung his leg, and struck the ball with force!
His movement was fluid, and most importantly, his shot was incredibly powerful. In the blink of an eye, the ball rocketed toward the top corner of the goal.
Cech reacted as quickly as he could, diving to make the save.
But Su Luo's shot was unstoppable.
The ball flew past Cech and into the back of the net.
All the Arsenal goalkeeper could do was retrieve the ball from his goal with a look of frustration.
"Su Luo's penalties are always so reliable. I can't remember the last time he missed one!" the commentator exclaimed.
After the restart, Arsenal seemed to come alive.
They regained control of the game, and soon their offense was in full swing.
Granit Xhaka, Arsenal's midfield general, began orchestrating the attack. Despite Chelsea's efforts to mark him tightly, Xhaka showed his class, managing to maintain possession under heavy pressure from Fabregas and Kante.
At the top of the box, Xhaka received the ball, but instead of passing it immediately, he chose to keep hold of it, waiting for the right moment.
Fabregas and Kante closed in on him, but Xhaka remained composed. With great vision, he threaded the ball through to Welbeck on the right.
Welbeck's control was precise, and Arsenal's attack shifted into high gear.
With the ball at his feet, Welbeck didn't hesitate. He surged forward, leaving Chelsea's defender Moses trailing behind. It was clear that while Moses had decent defensive skills, he struggled to keep up with Welbeck's pace and movement.
In just a few strides, Welbeck blew past him.
Now, Welbeck was sprinting toward the top of the penalty area.
Chelsea's defense immediately responded, with Marcos Alonso, Fabregas, and center-back David Luiz all closing in to block his path.
Though Welbeck's fitness was impressive, his decision-making in critical moments had always been a concern.
