In a flash, Smith whipped in a precise cross. The ball curved beautifully through the air, finding its target—Jermain Defoe.
Despite Rudiger's tight marking, Defoe rose high, meeting the ball with a powerful header.
The crowd held their breath as the ball soared past Courtois and into the back of the net.
Defoe erupted in celebration, pumping his fists as he ran to retrieve the ball from the net. Bournemouth's fans roared with hope.
For Bournemouth, the task was clear: equalize before the halftime whistle. With five minutes left in the first half, they knew this was their best chance to claw their way back into the game.
On the other hand, Chelsea was desperate to hold their lead. Conceding another goal now would be disastrous.
Antonio Conte, Chelsea's animated coach, barked orders from the sideline. "Stay sharp! Stay focused! No mistakes!"
Chelsea's players responded immediately. Fabregas, controlling the midfield with his trademark composure, took charge of the situation.
Spotting an opportunity, Fabregas launched one of his signature long passes. The ball soared over the halfway line and landed perfectly at Hazard's feet on the left wing.
Hazard had been quiet for most of the match, struggling to find his rhythm. Tonight, he hadn't received the kind of opportunities that allowed him to thrive.
But this time, as the ball reached him, Hazard made a quick decision.
He wouldn't hesitate.
Taking on Bournemouth's defense, Hazard surged forward, determined to create something special.
