The door was pushed open and President Zheng was sitting in the chair and making a call. “Sure, thank you, President Fang.” He looked up and caught sight of Lu Qing and the secretary at the door. He hung up and said in a low voice. “What’s the matter?”
The secretary said at once, “President Zheng, Lu Qing…”
Lu Qing interrupted the secretary immediately and walked towards President Zheng. “President Zheng, I have something to discuss with you.”
President Zheng took a look at Lu Qing and then turned to the secretary. “You can leave us now.”
The secretary nodded. She closed the door and went out.
President Zheng sat there and looked at Lu Qing. “What do you want to talk to me about?”
“President Zheng, I’ve been at SE Entertainment for seven years now. In the seven years that I’ve been here, I’ve worked hard but I’m never been taken seriously. I think this might be related to my own capability. Therefore, I want to quit.” Lu Qing presented her resignment letter.
President Zheng did not even look at that letter and only at Lu Qing. He said, “So are you not happy with your work now?”
“It’s not that. It’s just…” Lu Qing did not continue.
“Say what you want to say,” President Zheng said.
“President Zheng, you want me to work with Xia Ning and that’s an honor. But I’m not able to and I’m never in her eyes either. I don’t think it makes sense for me to stay at SE Entertainment like this.”
President Zheng nodded. “I understand. Xia Ning is special. I can give some other newcomers to you.”
“I appreciate your kindness, President Zheng. But I’m tired and want to change environments. I hope you’ll agree,” Lu Qing said and shook her head.
President Zheng stared at Lu Qing. “I don’t think I can agree to that.”
Lu Qing looked at President Zheng. “Why?”
“Now everyone in the company is saying that you were the one spreading rumors about the unspeakable rumors between me, Ziming and Xia Ning. If you leave, they will think it’s true. I saw you grow up and I don’t believe you did it. Therefore, I can’t approve of your resignment.” President Zheng said calmly. “If an agent is involved in this kind of thing, it’s nothing different than an artist with scandals.
