The following day, Qiao Yu didn’t go to work. He had finished everything the day before and had nothing to do until after the Chinese New Year.

Zheng Ziming was eating with his parents and he couldn’t hide the smile on his face when he received the phone call.
“Asteria, don’t mention it. Our relationship beyond that.
“I know. Take care of yourself too. Let’s have a drink someday.
“This is your first Chinese New Year back home after so long and we have to celebrate it properly.
“Sure. See you then!”
Mr. Zheng pretended he didn’t see the goofy grin on his son’s face, but Mother Zheng didn’t like it. Although her son had been around these years, she didn’t feel his presence much. His heart had already belonged to some other woman and his mother was no longer his top priority.
“I’ve set you up on a date. You should go meet her after the holiday,” said Mother Zheng all of a sudden.
The smile froze on Zheng Ziming’s face and he frowned at his mother. “Mom, I don’t want to get married yet!”
With a smack, Mother Zheng threw her chopsticks on the table and stared at Zheng Ziming. “What do you mean you don’t want to get married? It is not a matter of ‘want’! Have you forgotten how old you are?!”
“Mom, I’m only 27. I’m still young!” said Zheng Ziming grumpily.
“You’re not old now, but what about in a few years?” Mother Zheng said in a stern tone. “You don’t want to get married because of that woman. Is that right?”
“Mom, this has nothing to do with Asteria!” said Zheng Ziming in a grim tone. “And please don’t talk about her like that. I don’t like it.”
“Fine, fine. You’re talking back to your mother for her now!” Mother Zheng was shivering with anger. She then turned to Mr. Zheng. “It’s all your fault. You sold our son for your business and now, he doesn’t care about us at all!”
“Not again!” Mr. Zheng frowned. “Young people have their own plans and you can’t push things. I think Ziming can gather some more experience before he settles down.”
“Fine. The two of you are in it together now and I’m the bad guy here.” Tears began to roll down Mother Zheng’s cheek as she spoke.
Zheng Ziming said to his mother in a low voice. “Mom, I know you don’t like it that I spend more time with Asteria than with you, but have you thought about this? Where will we be without Asteria? Will we be able to eat in a big house like this and stay together as a family? Plus, I’m glad that I was able to grow up with Asteria, and to be honest, I really like her. But she doesn’t like me that way. I know I’m not good enough for her, so I’ve never asked for anything else. Will you take away my only chance to stay by her side?”
“You’re a perfect man! She has no right to dislike you!” Mother Zheng was displeased.

He swallowed as he read the number on the phone, then picked it up with shaking hands.
