Jin Yan cooked the dumplings in every possible way. He fried them, deep-fried them, steamed them, and boiled them.
Seeing all the dumplings on the table, Xia Ning wanted to call it a dumpling banquet.
What was more, Jin Yan killed the condiment sauce. Xia Ning couldn’t put her chopsticks down.
“Music King Jin, you’re the enemy of all actresses!” With a dumpling in her mouth, Xia Ning stared at Jin Yan. No actress can stay slim if they ate like this every day.
“Don’t worry. I’ll support you if you can’t act anymore. I promise I’ll feed you on time.” Jin Yan smiled, then put a steamed dumpling in Xia Ning’s plate.
Xia Ning rolled her eyes at him. Was he feeding a pig?
“I’m so full.”
“This is the last one. Please.” Jin Yan gave her a look that she couldn’t resist.
Looking at the dumpling, Xia Ning picked it up in resignation. Anyway, it was going to be the last one and the dumpling was really delicious.
After dinner, Jin Yan cleaned the table, then showed Xia Ning the script of his new movie.
“This is the edited version of the one I showed you before. Take a look. I’ve marked the parts that have been changed.” Jin Yan went up to the sofa and tossed Xia Ning the script.
Leaning back on the sofa, Xia Ning looked satiated and laid back. She picked the script up and started reading. A moment later, she asked, “Has the starting date been set yet?”
“It’s planned to start in March because they haven’t finished casting yet,” replied Jin Yan.
Xia Ning nodded. “Do you have other plans before that?”
“There’s a reality show, some TV interviews, and a few film and television events. I’m starting working on my new album too.” Jin Yan said with a smile. “What about you? Any other jobs aside from my film?”
“I’m still attending publicity events for ‘The City of Desperation’ and there should be some new films,” replied Xia Ning after some thought. “I’m already reading some scripts at the moment, but nothing is decided yet.”
“So it won’t be a busy year for you.” Jin Yan’s eyes lit up as he studied Xia Ning. An idea seemed to strike him.
“That’s true, but I’ll probably have future plans along the way.” Xia Ning smiled a little. “In fact, I like being an actress. Sometimes when I’m on a job long enough, I can see a big part of me reflected in the role I play, so much so that I can have a hard time differentiating the role from reality.
Although she didn’t join the showbiz because she liked acting, as time went by, she seemed to start liking it.
“That means you’re engaged in the story. You have talent in almost everything!” said Jin Yan in amazement. “I knew you were really smart when we were little, but I’m more impressed now that we’re all grownups. You can master everything from finance and the stock market to investment and showbiz.”
Xia Ning shook her head. “Sometimes it’s because I have no choice.”
“Do you want to go on the reality show with me?” Jin Yan suddenly suggested.
Xia Ning turned him down without hesitation. “You know me. I’m not into variety shows. After all, I have no talent in being funny or entertaining the mass population.”
“It’s not hard. Just follow me and you’ll get through.” Jin Yan explained.
Xia Ning still shook her head. “I’ll pass. My kid needs me. I don’t think I have that much time.”
Looking at Xia Ning, Jin Yan fell silent. He then nodded. “Alright.” He knew that it was impossible to change her mind and when it changed, something earth-shattering must have happened.
