Chapter 722: The Three Guys’ Show
Xia Ning heard this and frowned a little. She darted a look at Gao Yang and said coldly, “What do you mean, Young Master Gao? Are you looking down on people who grew up in the orphanage?”
Qiao Yu darted a look at Xia Ning and saw that she was a bit upset. He darted a warning look at Gao Yang.
Gao Yang received Qiao Yu’s gaze and knew that he was in the wrong. He said at once, “Sister-in-law, Mr. Jin, don’t misunderstand. I didn’t mean that.”
Even Shen Tianlang followed, “Yeah, Xiao Ke, Gao Yang is never good with words. Don’t be mad at him, Mr. Jin!”
“Xiao Ke, you are just too sensitive,” Jin Yan said with a smile suddenly. “Young Master Gao is telling the truth, but I don’t think it’s embarrassing. For me, it’s the same where I grow up.”

The air was a bit awkward. Xia Ning picked up the fruit platter and handed it to Jin Yan. “Jin Yan, have some lotus. I made them.”
Jin Yan took a piece and took a look. He said with a smile, “Good work.” As he spoke, he took a bite.
“Sister-in-law, I want one too,” Gao Yang said with a smile at once.
Xia Ning did not even look at him. She put the fruit platter on the table and went into the kitchen.
Seeing Xia Ning’s back, Gao Yang touched his nose. He just wanted to find a way out. But Xia Ning was not giving him face. So should he eat the fruit or not?!
Jin Yan looked at Gao Yang and said with a smile, “Xiao Ke’s temper is like this. She’ll be fine soon. Don’t mind her.”
The second these words were out, the smile on Gao Yang’s face froze. He turned to Qiao Yu at once.
Qiao Yu darted a look at Jin Yan and said calmly, “Yeah, Xia Ning always protects her family.”

Shen Tianlang said suddenly, “Mr. Jin, can you tell us about Xiao Ke in the orphanage?”
Jin Yan smiled slightly. “Of course!” He put down the fruit in his hand and said, “Xiao Ke’s mum passed away and no one took care of her. The neighbor sent her to the orphanage. Back then, Xiao Ke lost her mother. It was said that she was very agitated. She was very timid and afraid of strangers. I found her pitiful. I sent her food and sang to her. Over time, we got familiar with each other.”
“Was she having a bad time?” Shen Tianlang’s heart tightened suddenly.
Jin Yan looked at Shen Tianlang and nodded. “She didn’t live a good life at first, but she got used to it slowly. So please don’t feel guilty, Mr. Shen. Living in the orphanage might be a good thing for Xiao Ke.”
These words reminded Shen Tianlang of his family’s attitude to Xiao Ke. He had to admit that Jin Yan was right.

In the study room, Qiao Yu saw the match on the board and put a stone down. He said calmly, “Mr. Jin, you lost. But it was Xia Ning’s luck to have an older brother like you, Mr. Jin.”
“Yeah, I lost.” Jin Yan put the stone in the box and looked at Qiao Yu. “Even though Mr. Qiao won on the game, he might not win in every direction.”
Qiao Yu looked up at the man across him with sharp eyes. There were a lot of things that men knew well about one another.
