Watching a grown man throw a tantrum and roll on the ground, An Ran couldn’t help but laugh. Her mood improved significantly. It was obvious that this guy was Mu Xingfeng’s brother. Anyone who could make the normally venomous Mu Xingfeng look helpless must have a very special relationship with him.
"You two sit first; I’ll go make two more vegetable dishes," An Ran said, taking the spatula from Mu Xingfeng’s hand and heading into the kitchen.
As soon as An Ran left, Lin Junyang sidled up. "Boss, you two aren’t really..."
He made a gesture to indicate a close relationship.
Mu Xingfeng knew exactly what Lin Junyang was thinking. Thinking about his relationship with An Ran, he felt quite helpless. Unfastening his apron, he calmly said, "Don’t get it wrong. She thinks of me as a father figure."
"Pfft—" Lin Junyang spit out the water he had just drunk, almost spraying it on the table. He then choked and coughed for quite a while before he looked up. "Boss, did you say a father figure?"
"Is it that funny?" Boss Mu was displeased, a calculating glint appeared in his eyes as he looked at Lin Junyang.
Lin Junyang immediately sat up straight in a perfect military posture. "No, I’m just curious how she would see you as a father figure."
"How should I know? Maybe she finds a sense of security with me." Mu Xingfeng sighed. He hoped she would rely on him and find security in him, but definitely not in that way.
"Well, that’s a good thing, isn’t it?" Lin Junyang analyzed for him, "At least you can live peacefully with Tuzi. I think your little life together isn’t bad at all."
He looked at the dining table, hinting at something.
"But then again, what about my sister? What am I supposed to do if you and Tuzi are ?" Lin Junyang was troubled. They were already living together. What chance does his sister have? He had suspected something when he saw the two of them at the entrance of the community, but he never thought he’d catch them red-handed today.
No wonder his sister had disappeared. She probably knew too.
"What does this have to do with your sister? You should pay more attention and stop focusing on her and me all the time," said Mu Xingfeng, heading back to the kitchen.
Lin Junyang was baffled by Mu Xingfeng’s words. Who else should he focus on if not his sister and him?
An Ran moved quickly. By the time Mu Xingfeng came back, she had already stir-fried two vegetable dishes. They were simple greens without any chili, which made Mu Xingfeng quite satisfied. He did not want to let this girl’s stomach suffer another onslaught.
"Take these dishes out first. I’ll make some soup, and it’ll be ready soon," An Ran said when she saw Mu Xingfeng.
After Mu Xingfeng put the two dishes on the table, he noticed that the meat dishes were all spicy. Originally there was supposed to be sweet and sour ribs, but he had burnt them.
Seeing the culprit lounging around leisurely, Mu Xingfeng looked at his watch and said, "Lin Junyang, you have fifteen minutes to go to Shengbaiwei and get a take-out order of sweet and sour ribs and braised chicken."
"Ah? Boss, fifteen minutes? I won’t even have enough time to get there," Lin Junyang looked as if his life had lost all meaning. When the boss got tough, he was inhuman.
"You can choose not to go, but there won’t be any food for you tonight."
Lin Junyang glanced at the dishes on the table. If he hadn’t tasted them, he might have just given up. But he had just tasted them, and they were up to gourmet standards—plus, they were all his favorite spicy dishes. For this meal, he relented.
Lin Junyang grabbed his car keys and dashed outside.
In no time, An Ran came out carrying a pot of soup. Seeing only Mu Xingfeng, she asked, "Where is that guy?"
"He went to compensate for your sweet and sour ribs."
Uh, An Ran blinked. How to compensate? Could it be he would actually go to a restaurant and get a take-out order to compensate her?
