An Ji stayed to play with Kangkang until bedtime before heading to the room across to rest. After watching Kangkang fall asleep, Tang Yuchen left the room and gently knocked on An Ruo’s door.
An Ruo was about to rest when she heard the knock, knowing it was him knocking.
She got up, opened the door, and asked puzzledly, "What is it?"
"Yes, there’s something I want to talk to you about." Tang Yuchen nodded seriously. He took the initiative to walk in, and she felt awkward not letting him in.
"Go ahead, what did you want to talk about?" An Ruo asked, tilting her head.
The man stood before her, his eyes deep and shining, "I heard all your conversation with An Ji today."
An Ruo was stunned, then realized what he meant.
She pursed her lips in silence. Tang Yuchen then said, "An Ruo, is the only reason you let me stay here really just for Kangkang? I thought you still had feelings for me."
His direct question made her unsure of how to respond.
Leaning against the wall uncontrollably, An Ruo lowered her gaze and spoke softly, "I know why you moved in, but my allowing you to do so wasn’t giving you a chance. Kangkang needs you, and you need to stay yourself; I couldn’t object. Besides, I don’t want to deliberately avoid anything. Let’s let things take their natural course, deliberately avoiding things only makes life too exhausting for myself."
Tang Yuchen appeared somewhat gloomy. He stretched his hands to either side of her, bowed his head a few inches closer, and gazed directly into her eyes.
"Then tell me, do you still have feelings for me?"
An Ruo calmly met his gaze. Under his expectant eyes, she barely opened her lips and said, "No."
Xiao Ji was right, if she didn’t want to continue things with him, it was best to cut things off completely. She could ensure she wouldn’t develop a romantic relationship now, but couldn’t guarantee he wouldn’t find another woman after their breakup.
She had delayed Mo Hua once; she couldn’t delay Tang Yuchen anymore. Tang Yuchen’s status didn’t permit him to remain single forever, which wasn’t good for his image. For his sake, it was best she not give him any hope.
Upon hearing her response, Tang Yuchen’s dark eyes flickered slightly.
An Ruo silently met his gaze, and the two stared at each other for what felt like ages. Just when she thought they would remain silent until dawn, he suddenly kissed her lips without any warning.
An Ruo’s mind buzzed blank, Tang Yuchen’s kiss was as hot as freshly erupted magma, almost scorching her heart. He kissed her recklessly, as if with the most sincere heart, the hottest passion, and all his life.
