The Northeast Leopard is just the Far Eastern Leopard. Here we call it the Northeast Leopard, but in our neighboring country, Russia, it’s called the Far Eastern Leopard.
Earlier, the park called Chen Ying, asking him to come help treat the Far Eastern Leopard, because it was confirmed that this leopard had always lived in the Maritime Border Region and had traveled a long way to reach us here.
Moreover, it was found less than twenty kilometers from the border, so it’s still habitually referred to as the Far Eastern Leopard. Unless this big guy settles here or frequently appears within our borders, it would be called the Northeast Leopard.

To put it simply, it’s a matter of animal population mobility and residency green cards in the animal kingdom.
"Don’t you say, that area is indeed a habitat for the Northeast Tiger. There are two Northeast Tigers living nearby, one male and one female."
The park leadership is having a meeting discussing this issue. Some have also thought of this problem, and it’s now necessary to send someone over to check on the tigers’ situation.
Chen Ying is a bit worried about Dao Meihua and wants to go over for a look, but he can’t leave the mother leopard yet, so under the persuasion of the park leadership, he anxiously stays behind.
After examining the leopard, Chen Ying brushes and massages it, mumbling a few words offhandedly.
The mother leopard places its paw on his arm, listens intently for a while, then raises its head and lets out a leopard’s roar.
The leopard’s voice isn’t loud but has a strong penetrating power.
Shortly after it cries out, several responses are heard in succession from other leopards in the park recovering or retired.
In earlier years, to prevent extinction in the wild, many cubs were born through artificial rearing of the Far Eastern Leopard. To reintroduce them into the wild, a semi-wild rearing method was adopted, minimizing human contact. Once they pass an evaluation, they are released to live in the most suitable areas.
But not all leopards can return to the wild. Some fall sick or become disabled during growth for various reasons and can only remain in captivity under human care.
There are also some that are too old and unsuitable to be returned to the wild, so they stay here until the end of their lives.
Upon arrival, Chen Ying learned from the keeper that currently, the animal hospital park houses five leopards, two females and three males, four rescued Northeast Tigers, and one Northeast Black Bear sent for treatment after being seriously injured in a fight before hibernation.

The consecutive leopard roars and tiger calls exacerbate the already irritable temperament of the black bear that can’t hibernate peacefully.
It stands upright, frantically slamming on the iron door, even grabbing the iron bars with its paws trying to bend them with force.
This black bear’s fighting capability ranks among the top of all black bears treated in the beast hospital over the years. Not long after its treatment was completed, one morning, a patrolling guard unexpectedly discovered that it had bent a steel rod outside the enclosure. If it weren’t for its massive size, it might have successfully escaped.
Upon learning of this, the park immediately took action, reinforcing and thickening its enclosure inside and out, and replaced the iron door with a new one.
Now the awakened black bear cries out and slams the door, the large iron door making a teeth-gritting sound under its blows.
No one can appease the irritable black bear, except for delicacies!
When food drenched in honey is placed inside the enclosure through the feeding window, the keen-sensed black bear finally quiets down, turning to look at the stainless steel bowl filled with food.
Standing on its two legs, it walks over directly, first carefully examining the feeding window, and confirming no escape opportunity, it then crouches down, sniffs the honey-drenched food, and sits down to gorge itself.
In front of the monitoring screen, the keepers responsible for its care breathe a sigh of relief, finally feeling a bit relaxed.
"Really hope the weather warms quickly so this gentleman can return to his territory soon!"
