"Brother Ying, how did you know I was looking for you because of Er Niu?"
Without waiting for Chen Ying’s reply, Xiao Song quickly aimed the camera at the Second Snow Leopard Elder, "It was this little guy who came to find me. It seems like something happened, but I can’t understand what it’s trying to convey."
Xiao Song switched the microphone to speaker mode. The Second Snow Leopard Elder heard a familiar voice and immediately let out a series of cries.
Chen Ying listened carefully and his expression changed suddenly, "Xiao Song, go find Uncle Tashi to drive, and follow the second cub to find Er Niu. Something happened to Er Niu’s newborn."
Upon hearing this, Xiao Song’s eyes widened, "But Uncle Tashi went to the city to procure supplies and won’t be back until tomorrow."
"Is there anyone on the other side who can help?"
"I’ll go ask. It seems like there aren’t many people here today, they’ve all gone to the plains to protect the Tibetan antelope."
Just as she was anxious, Ji Xin ran over, panting, "Sister Song, don’t, don’t worry, I have a car, I’ll take you there."
Seeing Ji Xin return, Xiao Song quickly grabbed the emergency equipment and portable ultrasound machine she had just packed and got into Ji Xin’s car without a second word.
The second cub led the two of them towards Er Niu’s cave, and at some point, Black Gold joined them.
The two Mastiffs had followed Uncle Tashi into the wilderness several times. Besides hanging around the emergency station, they often visited two nearby protection stations for food. They were familiar with the area and weren’t afraid of the beasts roaming the wilderness.
Er Niu’s place wasn’t very far. Heading north along the mountain range where previous scientific expeditions had been conducted, it took about two hours to arrive.
The number of Tibetan gazelles and Tibetan wild donkeys in this area isn’t large, under normal circumstances, fierce animals like Snow Leopards wouldn’t choose such food-scarce places to have cubs.
The car hadn’t even stopped when they saw two Snow Leopards standing on the rock.
Seeing the second cub rushing towards them, the three leopards greeted one another intimately, and then Xiao Song and Ji Xin climbed to the base of the rock with their equipment.
"This mountain is so desolate, you can’t even find a mouse rabbit here."
Ji Xin glanced around, in the dim light, there were only bare rocks and nothing else.
Xiao Song leaned against the rock to catch her breath and looked at the second cub, "Where’s your mom? Hurry and take me to her."
The Second Snow Leopard Elder let out a low call to the sibling and ran between them towards its mother’s cave.
Er Niu had already heard the commotion outside. Its ears twitched, it glanced at its own cub, licked it twice, then got up and walked to the cave entrance to look out.
It remembered Xiao Song, and even Ji Xin it remembered.
Seeing Xiao Song approaching with the familiar box, Er Niu let out an almost inaudible sound and rammed forward.
When Xiao Song saw Er Niu, she immediately knelt down to hug it.
As soon as she touched it, she noticed something was wrong.
"Er Niu, did you... did you give birth to another cub?"
Er Niu made a nasal sound, turned back into the cave, and a few minutes later, it carried out a frail little cub.
As soon as Xiao Song saw the cub, she quickly opened the incubator that Chen Ying had asked her to bring.
"Let’s go, Er Niu, get in the car, we have to hurry back, this little cub is in very poor condition!"
Xiao Song, holding the box, tried to stand up and nearly stumbled. Ji Xin quickly steadied her and took over the large box, letting Xiao Song carry the lighter medical kit.
