Fortunate to Have You This Lifetime Chapter 626

Chapter 626: Chapter 626 Optimistic Alexander Summers_1

Purple reluctantly took her feet down, feeling incredibly awkward.

She should have known, always walking by the river, how could her shoes remain dry… With so many eyes in the house, Alexander still didn’t restrain himself, and sooner or later someone would notice.

Thinking of this, Purple couldn’t help but give Alexander a blaming glare.

Luckily, Alexander had his back to Atra, his body blocking some of her view. The siblings were fooling around; hopefully, Atra hadn’t seen too much, right?

Although she thought this, Purple still felt incredibly guilty and called out to Atra a bit breathlessly, “Mom…”

But Atra seemed even more embarrassed than Purple.

She stood at the door holding the washed grapes, frozen in place, her instinct was to step back, but then she thought retreating might make the situation even more embarrassing. Atra had no choice but to steel herself and walk over—

A plate of grapes rested on the table, each plump as a deep purple, round jewel, adorned with glittering drops of water, cool and refreshing, easing the summer heat.

Guilty consciences silenced the siblings; neither spoke.

Purple pretended to read, sitting cross-legged in a wicker chair, her head bowed in silence.

Atra felt she ought to say something, yet when she opened her mouth, no words came out.

After an awkward lull, Atra said, “Alexander, come here for a moment…”

Atra called Alexander back into the room.

Watching the two retreat, Purple couldn’t calm down anymore. She closed the book in her hands, overwhelmed with anxiety.

“What will they talk about?” Purple wondered. “Will Alexander reveal our secret? And what will Atra’s stance be? Can she accept it?”

Purple plucked a grape from the plate and chewed it tastelessly, her mind in total disarray.

Now she felt a twinge of regret.

Alexander always said he wanted to come clean with their mother, and she hesitated and struggled, fearing the awkwardness. But, awkward as it was, could it be worse than being discovered so abruptly ?

Purple gazed at the cottage nearby, thinking irritably, “How should I talk to Atra…”

At that moment, Alexander was pondering the same issue.

He was relatively at peace with himself, but since his mother was timid, of course, Alexander hoped to find a milder way to make her accept the relationship between him and Purple.

Language is an art, and he needed to choose his words carefully to spare Atra from any great shock.

In fact, the most nervous and conflicted person was Atra.

“Alexander…” Atra weighed her words, speaking to Alexander, “Your sister has her final exams coming up, don’t keep pestering her… It will affect her studies.”

The remark was insubstantial but indirectly revealed her stance.

She didn’t wish for her son and daughter to be too close.

“Purple isn’t a little girl anymore; she’s seventeen. When you mess around with her, you need to be mindful,” Atra advised gently, “It wouldn’t be good if someone saw and got the wrong idea.”

Alexander was indifferent, responding, “So what if they get the wrong idea?”

“Alexander!” Atra was shocked, her gaze fixed on her son, “I can overlook however you mess around outside, but you can’t harm Purple! She is only seventeen years old!”

Alexander wanted to argue back but seeing Atra so frightened that even her lips turned pale, he couldn’t bear it.

Only two women in this world could soften his heart: one was Atra, who raised him with much hardship, and the other was Suzanne Saunders, whom he loved beyond self-control.

Alexander thought, since Atra always treated Purple as her own daughter, it was normal for her to not accept the situation at first. As time passed, Atra would eventually come around.

Didn’t Purple also struggle to accept him at first?

Alexander remained optimistic about this.

Even if he was cunning and ruthless outside, when it came to family, he generally preferred to think positively.

Alexander still believed, Atra’s resistance was only temporary.
